what would you do
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:20:06 AM »
this is something that has been on my mind for a long time. Sometime back we had a store shooting at the tarpon spring publix that i work at.  the shooter was comeing back to were we keep extra stuff in back with her Highp power out. well she saw out meat manger who was a cop for 15 years and at 15 feet she tryed to shoot him but her gun jamed. well he ran and did not tell anyone that she was back there with a gun trying to shoot people.

A 71 year old work who saw what happen try to stop the shooter but she could not(too weak to fight her). The old woman did get everyone from back  out the back of our store. Anyways if you were there and you used to be a cop and someone  try to shoot you but there gun jam, would you run or try to stop the shooter?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd run as fast as I could - toward the shooter.  No, bravery has nothing to do with it.  I can't outrun a bullet, and I know that anyone who knows how can clear a jam faster than I can clear the room.  The only sensible thing to me is to try to disable the shooter by any means possible.  By the way, anybody that would leave this kind of situation without warning others of the danger is a little lower than worm feces in my humble opinion. >:(

How far was the nearest door?  That would influence my decision to run or stand.

Well if i knew the gun had jammed i would had run towards her as fast as i could yelling and screaming as loud as i could to confuse her and as soon as i got the gun from her and beat her half to death with it i would have asked her nicely if she wanted me to file the sites off or leave them on before i shoved it up her a#s.To the cop that ran he is pretty much a coward in my book,as for the eldery lady give her a hugh and tell her thanks for sranding up and getting every body out safe.

that why our meat man ron(i don't know his last name) has no respect from the people that work back there or many people that work at our store.  Ron is about 220 6'2 and the shooter Arunya Rouch was about 5'6-5'10 and about 110-140 she was a small woman. But she was looking for him and he knows why, the shooter was in the store about a 1/2 hour look for the mangers to kill.  I was there that day at work and well if the mangerment had not play her the way they did or just talk to her a few days before all this could have been stopped.

thank you for give me piece of mind. Some  people said to me running was the right way to go but i would have drop her.  the back load dock dock door was right beside him and she was removeing the mag and trying to pull the side back to clear the jam.

here is the story if you want to look. http://www.wtsp.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=128678
