Racism in many forms has always been here, but how many people or advocacy groups will admit to knowing or understanding the below moment in time?

There is a reason that the democrats never bring up this tidbit of information, if they did it would negate all that they say they fight against, it would be just another fact that refutes their claims, it would show vividly that they were the main party of hate during a very trying time of our countries past.

So I feel that this should be an issue that is repeated in an effort to show the true colors of the democratic party.

The democratic party's racism against blacks is nothing new...Ask any of the descendants of victims killed or injured during the Camilla Georgia Massacre. So the next time you hear a conversation of how bad the conservatives or republicans are, throw in this event in time to watch their heads spin out of control.

In 1868, a newly elected General Assembly convened. The General Assembly ratified the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution which granted citizenship to blacks and declared that no state was to deprive them of "life, liberty, or property.” This action permitted Georgia’s readmission to the Union. Once Georgia was readmitted, the white members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate expelled the 32 black members on the grounds that the state constitution did not recognize the right of black citizens to hold office.

Following the expulsion, violence and intimidation increased against Blacks and their Republican supporters. On September 19, 1868, several hundred Blacks and Republicans marched 30 miles from Albany, Georgia to Camilla Georgia for a political rally in support of the removed black Legislators and presidential candidate Ulysses Grant. Many of the Blacks were armed with walking sticks, shotguns and other various firearms.

As the procession approached Camilla, the Mitchell County Sheriff, Mumford S. Poore rode out to meet the marchers and tell them not to enter the town with firearms. After his admonishment, the Sheriff returned Camilla to organize an ambush of the marchers.

When the marchers arrived at the courthouse square in Camilla, the white residents opened fire. The marchers bravely returned fire before retreating from the scene into the surrounding woods.

As the retreating and wounded marchers returned to Albany, the hostile white residents pursued them with dogs and assaulted them for several days. Of the marchers, at least nine were killed and nearly thirty wounded. Six whites were reported slightly wounded. This event has become known as the Camilla Massacre.

In his report to Georgia Governor Bullock, General George Gordon Meade assigned blame for the massacre on the marchers’ refusal to obey the sheriff’s orders not to bring arms into town. Two years later in 1870, the General Assembly prohibited the possession of guns at "public gatherings”. As defined by the Law, this prohibition would only apply to the marchers, not the Sheriff and not to the residents ambushing the marchers.

FWIW Georgia's long standing law prohibiting firearms at Public Gatherings has stood on the books since 1870, that is up until SB308 was signed into Georgia Law this year, this Jim Crow era and racist law would never have been removed had it not been for the incredible efforts of georgiacarry.org along with their incredible grass roots movement to improve Georgia's laws regarding the right to keep and bear arms.

To understand liberals, progressives etc and their union thug contemporaries, we must first realize that these groups MUST have someone or some group to HATE. Their agenda lacks sensible substance, so the only way they can whip up support is by way of hatred.

I did not think that Democrats really existed in 1868, no more than Republicans did. The names were the same, but the parties were quite different. Racism was the law of the land well into the 1900's. Ask Rosa Parks.

I know that we have pretty much laid this thread aside but I just got this video in an email and it is so good that I wanted to share it here.
These are some really special black conservatives holding a press conference defending the Tea Party and conservatives against racism. They argue with reporters from black specific publications. They expose who the real racists are. It is dated Aug. 4, 2010. These folks got it right!!

I love the "Why wasn't George Bush's word good enough?"  "Let's not compare..."

Yet, the left constantly compares to Pres. Bush.
