Star 380

Anyone have some info about this pistol? It is a Star model SS 380 cal. It seems to be a well made pistol and in very good condition with two mags and box. I've never owned one before and know nothing about them. I would like to know it's approximate value and any other useful info.

I have the Star Firestar Plus in 9MM, like you said it’s a very well made Gun, The finish is referred to is Starvel, my book is older but it states to add $30.00 for the Starvel finish.
These guns were made in Eibar Spain, from 1946 to 1972.
There was some junk that came out of Eibar Spain, but that’s not the case with these guns, they hold up real well. My book gives a 100% condition value for your gun at $240.00 but that’s low.
Like I said my Blue book is a few years old, time to get a new one.

This is one of the great 380 pistols in the world. It is a locked breech pistol and handles like a little 1911. Mine is accurate as all gittout and has never malfed a round. Mine needs a slightly higher front sight. I paid 140 bucks for it NIB not all that long ago. The STAR line of pistols were always world class guns.

Thanks for the info. I gave $250 for mine so I guess I didn't get hurt too bad. Mine could use a little higher front sight also but it seems to be accurate. It works fine with FMJ's but doesn't like Hollow points. The flat nose hangs up and doesn't feed correctly. I'm not a gunsmith so I don't know if this can be corrected or not.

Gun can be funny, I have had guys tell me most Autos don’t like HP, and for get about LSWC. Well I have shot both in a variety of guns without a problem, you may be able to polish the feed ramp and take care of the problem.
I am kind of old school and believe in the 380 hard ball is an all around better choice.
But like everything on a gun form, this is my opinion, others have there’s.
