Rocked ol' Michelle out of bed. An earthquake 3.6 magnitude hit the Washington DC area at 5:04 this morning, causing minor damage, shaking windows, knocking dishes around. Greatest damage was at the White House....Michelle lost a little sleep.

BEARMGC. Ya reckon God is trying to get osamas attention??? I'm sure God has talked to osama for years now, but osama hasn't heard a word or learned anything. From what I've seen and heard of michelle she needs every bit of sleep she can get. POWDERMAN.

If a little 3.6 shakes them up that bad, wait till they get a good 7 to 9 shaker. I've sat through hundreds of 5s and 6s, a few 7s and 8s, even one 9.something. The strongest quake ever recorded in North America about eight or nine years back, I grabbed the wife and shoved her to the floor beside a big freezer, where we rode it out. Lasted several minutes.

This could be a precurses to things to come on the New Madrid Fault. It's along the same tectonic plate.

Well folks Realistically now. The New Madrid Fault is over due for a good shaker. That is going to interupt things along the Mississippi, in the areas of Illinois, Misouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Lousiana, and Mississippi. The towns and cities in the area are not prepared for anything like what is coming. I live in an Earth Quake prone area. We live with them almost everyday. Small ones and big ones. You think Haiti was bad, wait till a good 7.something hits Memphis or St Louis. It will be worse than Katrina all over again. There will be no time to prepare, just BOOM it's here! If you live in that area is your home Earth Quake resistant? Will it flex and move without coming apart.

You're right. I've been reading about the New Madrid fault, and its waaay overdue. And the Mississippi river will oblige with horrendous flooding as well, when it happens.

I feel new legislation in the making as a result, as this is clearly the result of man's abuse of nature. Some big business must be at fault, and sued. Bush clearly deregulated whichever industry was responsible and put us in this position, and the policies of this administration will fix it. There were probably some civil rights violated as well; childhood obesity was clearly affected.

Has the tea party claimed responsibility for it yet?

We used to have small ones but haven't felt a thing for several years now. Yes, we too would be considered to be on the New Madrid fault. I don't think anybody is totally prepared for a disaster like that. I read an article in the Lou paper years ago that they believe if Lou got hit with a 7+ quake that most of the tall buildings downtown would simply sink because the soil would liquify. The last we had here wasn't real big but it cracked the foundation pretty good by the back porch. POWDERMAN.

When living in an Earth Quake prone area, as long as you feel the little one reguler no porblem. It's when you don't feel any in a long time that the pressure is building and suddenly Wham.

When I first moved to California, Marin County, just north of San Francisco, we had a small quake. Scared the daylites out of me. I was ready to go AWOL right then and there. An old lady that had lived there her entire life said, "Seddle down young-un as long as we keep having little ones like that we aint goen to have a big un".

Oh sure, with all my problems and you have to remind me that I live in the Missouri Ozarks and my house is perched on the side of mountain! ROFL But you're 100% right. We are long over do for the big one! A quake could have St. Louis though. I was born there and it wouldn't be missed much. Unfortunately that city went to h*** a long time ago. Up untill a couple years ago it was the murder capital of the US. The Guardian Angels, from New York, came in to clean up a few neighborhoods. They lasted a week before running for home! In a two month period I saw my neighbor murdered in front of his house in broad daylight, plus the local traffic cop and our mail man and came home to catch a couple guys climbing through my infant son's bedroom window after allready getting burglarized 4 times. I bought the meanest dog on the planet and carried two .45's everywhere I went! Guess what I did next? I took my family moved to the country and never looked back!

No quake ,it was Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Franklin spinning in their graves. Or maybe trying to get out to kick our sorry butts for letting this mess get this bad.
