The 3AANRVMACS is now in the books! Great Time!
« on: July 17, 2010, 11:39:59 AM »
Here are two of many pictures to follow.

Pete, Bruce - send me a PM with your mailing address.  I have the earmuffs and binoculars.

Great time.  (Baseball game in an hour and a half and I have 4 mortars and a hand gonne to clean.)

I named the 100 yr old apple tree 'Will' because everyone was firing at it.

It was about 100 or so yards out there.

Many thanks to all who attended - there were several 'firsts' - and to Dennis, again for providing one of the nicest 'ranges' in the country!

The first two pics are good 'uns, keep em comin'. Is that your hard chromed pop can mortar in the first one?

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

:'(  Friday my plans were changed for me..... I wrenched my right knee and ended up in my easy chair most of yesterday and today,
I already take anti-inflammatories for my neck & shoulder so I just iced it down swellings down and I am a little gimpy but should be
back to normal (for me anyway) soon enough.

glad to hear everyone had a good time wish I was there! any pics of the ballonenpopper?

Yes, my "Armaloy" hard chrome plated 4.5" mortar.   Half-length projo.
The prez?  Did not drop by our site, may have dropped by Lances - haven't heard.
Yes, more pix coming.   ;D

Allen - we missed you.  Next time decide to come and DON'T screw up the knee - bad choice.

Balloonengepoppencannon?  We'll have to wait for Lance to weigh in - he at the last minute switched back to only shooting on his sight.  Maybe CNN has coverage of the visit?  I'm disappointed he didn't come over - even later in the day.

OK

Two more pix.

The first is Dennis, lighting the 4.5" (7.5 lb projo with full charge) to start off the event.  Air time was LOOOOOOONG and it landed way out there somewhere in the woods with a crunch-thud.

The second is Carol - lighting the fuse (FIRST TIME EVER) of the soda-bottle (16-20-24oz) caliber LYLE gun (replica obviously).  (Do you remmeber the FIRST time YOU lit the fuse on a big mortar?)

John - I WANT to know.  I couldn't be in two places at once.  SO we'll have to wait for Lance's response.  IF the pres did come, Lance has certainly earned something for sticking to what he believes in.

Two more of SMOKE.

We actually walked over to look behind a building nearby to see what was on fire - but it was just OUR smoke lazily blowing past the building.

I think I recognize LittleSeacoast's SBR Dahlgren above, so he made it there.

CW: "Yes, my "Armaloy" hard chrome plated 4.5" mortar.   Half-length projo."
OK, a little bit bigger than a pop can bore, but I was close.

I'm glad you recognized his presence there by his cannon and not his legs.   :o  :D  ;D
And correct, my pop-can bore morter (which is bright-chromed) stayed at home this time.

Obviously, I'm back from the game.  The (our) Pulaski Mariners won over the Danville Braves 7:6.

Now, this board and the people on it continually amaze me.  (I've often said that not much amazes me, but this is an exception.)

The two pictures show most of us (during the rain storm) and one of Dale that needs explanation.  I will leave the explanation of the second to Bruce and Pete (I still need your mailing addresses - for the awards DONATED by Richard the generous).

From the LEFT:  Carol, Dale, Jeff, Shannon, Adam, Pete (Little Seacoast) and Bruce (VA rifleman).  Behind the camera: Me (aka Tim, aka Cat Whisperer).  Not pictured: Dennis.  Dennis and Jeff are Dale's inlaws.  Dennis provided (for all 3 NRVMACS's) the use of his back yard and shop.  Dale and I shoot single-shot rifles (and soon) cannons together.  We work at the same plant.

A few more pictures to add, I particularly like the ones of VA Rifleman down in the dirt and Carol firing her first ever gun. I would also like to thanks CW and Dennis for arranging this opportunity to meet folks and providing a beautiful place to do so.

It looks like you put on a great shoot.  The smiles tell it all. I know there is a good deal of work that goes in to putting on one of these.  I also know the past week has been particularly tough for you.  Congratulations on job well done.
