According to Tim's ID-ing efforts on Reply #16, that would be VA rifleman/Bruce pulling the lanyard on the SBR Dahlgren in the photo posted on Reply #22.
I'm now waiting on delivery of one of these from South Bend Replica, (now updated to a possible 30-60 day wait
) which is why I'm interested in this gun.
I like that slap-hammer size because it doesn't look way to large like a lot of these things do when attached to a sub scale model.
So a few questions for VA rifleman: Did this smaller/lighter hammer function well in firing the cap?
I noticed in the photo that the whole cannon was pulled to the side in firing; did you have to use that amount of force, or did you eventually get the cannon to fire using a lighter pull that didn't move the whole gun?
