the last i saw they were about $90 on a c&r. graf has 8x56 brass for about $40/100 on a c&r as well. last year, i got 10 clips for a reasonable price from http://www.sarcoinc.com/stripclips.html.

a friend used a lee sizer to swage .338 bullets to .329 with so-so success, i went the cast bullet route with lee's .329", 205 gas-check gr design over 17 gr of alliant 2400. velocities @ 1800 fps, no leading, gallon-of-milk-jug, offhand accuracy at 100 yds and NO PAIN. the factory loads kick lots.

of all my milsurps, my two m-95s have the worst triggers...by a big margin. as straight-pulls, they're crude compared to my swiss k-31s, but i love 'em anyway and they hit hard!

On the Steyrs, I assume they have a blind box magazine. I assume you can load them from the top.. but can also use the stripper clips too..Or do you need to have the stripper clip for it to function properly? Thanks..

 You must have the stripper clip. I dont have one yet and havnt fired mine,but I understand that the clip loads from the top and stays in the magazine,and falls out the bottom when the last round is fired.

I don't really want to make a trip to the PO for 1 or 2 due to fuel and time cost so lets say 5 clip Min order.

It will work some times but not great. I always use the clip.

I allways worry about shoving single rounds into a gun unless I know for a fact its ok. I dont want to break an extractor off.

for those worried about the m95s extractor, you can lay a single round on the spring lever at the rear of the action and carefully work the bolt, allowing the round to captured by the bolt head as it would if you used the clip...gun's only a single shot, but at least nothing breaks. the clips are listed at numrich for $5 each as of 8/15/10.

a friend sized .338" dia. bullets with a lee .329" sizer...he wasn't thrilled with the result, but it might have been due to an over-sized bore.

if you cast, you don't have to get clobbered by the gun...i load a 205gr gc lee to 1800 fps and enjoy the rifle. the friend mentioned earlier gifted me some nazi-era loads with clips which i'll keep, but not shoot...i'm a wimp and not afraid to admit it!

I got 100 boxer primed half jackets at GunBroker, reasonable. I haven't fired any yet. The 1938 military rounds do have pretty grim recoil by any standard. It must have a clip to function other than single load [OK].  If you beat the bush you may find clips very reasonable.

The NRA tv show did a piece on this rifle last season, it has an interesting history.

 Look in the Graff and Sons catalog. They list Tula Berdan large rifle primers. I AM skeptical if its for real,and if it is,WHICH Berdan large rifle primers they are.

I got brass and the correct size bullets (not the same as 8mm Mauser) from Buffalo Arms.

I love my m95. With the correct bullets, it is as accurate as many newer mil-surps.

 Are the 8x56 Hungarians the right ones? I see they have a nice selection (nice being 4 different weights) of jacketed bullets for it.

8x56r Hungarian is the correct round. Why Hungarian? Unknown. These M95 were refitted in Rumania.

It was Austria-Hungary at the time. I guess it makes as much a sense as calling the 8x56R Austrian.
