Does anyone have experience with HMR cannons?

Hi All,

Just found this forum while I was searching for a black power cannon on the internet.  I'm glad I found such a wealth of information.  I was looking at one of the GBO sponsors web site, HMR Cannons (www.hmrcannons.com).  It appears the cannon barrels sold at that site are less expensive then others on the internet.  Does anyone have any experience with HMR cannon barrels?  Can these be used to shoot projectiles?  Anything good or bad to say about the 2.5 inch diameter bore cannon barrel?  Do you know if the 2.5 inch cannon barrel is long enough to create enough pressure to make a good, low pitched, loud cannon Booooooooom?   Also, please feel free to PM me with answers.

Welcome Eric, both to this board and to this addiction.  Some call it a hobby but I believe in calling it what it really is.  Get one and you want more. 

I have one of armorer's (HMR) small golf ball mortars.  Actually...it belongs to the wife and she let's me lite the fuse every so often.

Armorer's barrels are high quaility and will provide you with many hours of fun while looking nice as a display piece in the house.  You cannot imagine the looks and questions I get from folks when they come in my house for the first time and see my collection.

All of the sponsors listed in the links in the stickies at the top of the main page will provide you with a fine product and stand behind it.  My only other suggestions are you talk to the person before you buy to make sure it will do what you expect and that you follow their guidance as to powder charge and projectiles.

Rule #1 is to be safe.

For those who would like to review " How to blow up a cannon " it is currently on page 15 . I can keep my prices down for 2 reasons , 1 This is still a hobby so I am not totally dependant on sales to live . 2 At 2 years , I am still the new guy . I try to give you a reason to try my products . But if you want , I can raise my prices . The eternal question in marketing is the right price , low enough so people who don't know you will give you a try , high enough that people don't think you make junk .  Armorer77

Justeric, I got one of Ed's small cannons, 3/4 inch bore, really kicks up a good show, plenty loud, strong recoil...I've fired blanks and so far, can't complain! Working on making Zinc slugs/balls to fire in it, but you have to go by the 40/39 windage rule...got to have some windage in a cannon.....ask Double D about that...Welcome aboard and have fun but stay safe! You can use lead on your bore it will be just fine. It's right on the edge of the upper limits.   Just be careful with it and keep your loads down.
