110E...is it the same action as the current crop of rifles?

Basically the title says it all.

I found a 110E in .30-06 that is in .30-06.  My thoughts are to use it as a basis for a .308 heavy barrel.

Other than the wooden stock and obviously it doesn't have one of the new fangled triggers, its price is sure tantalizing at $195.  It looks like has been someone else's project but nothing that can't be overcome.

To answer your question...no not exactly.It almost certainly has the stagger feed magazine instead of the in line on the new ones.Your barrel nut may be the older style also but that's not a problem.  Your 110E could arguably be a better choice than the new crop due to having more aftermarket parts available.You realize you will be putting a short action chambering on a long action reciever?You'll probably need new magazine.

Yes, I did realize that but I was thinking about using some of the VLDs that are out there floating around.  I wouldn't be limited by the relatively short length of the magazine of a .308 SA.

There is a little method to my madness about wanting it chambered to .308 vs leaving it at as a .30-06 as well.  My thoughts are the same as why I want a heavier barrelled .223 as well.
