357 Maximum
« on: July 21, 2010, 04:36:53 PM »
Who, if anyone, has experience with shooting the 357 Maximum in Freedom Arms single shot?   This chambering should be as popular as it is in other single shot handguns, like the Encore/Contender, but before I invest the considerable sum in this gun/barrel combo, I'd like to know what members of this forum think.

If it was up to me to invest in a FA I would be chambering in the 35 Remington or the 358 Winchester if I had to stay with the 358 bore. The 357 maximum is just to anemic for this price and the gun in general. You can always load a large case down but you cannot load a small case up.

This gun actually deserves a 30 cal like a 308 Win or the 6.5 as far as I am concerned. Just my opinion.

I've fired a .338 F-A single shot several times.  I was prepared for big recoil but, naaah, no big deal.

I agree with AGrizz in that the F-A deserves a "more robust" cartridge.

Want a .357 maxi?  Try one of the extended frame revolvers.
