Why should I get a 22 Mag Ultra?
« on: July 22, 2010, 05:44:15 AM »
Got a Savage 219 Hornet for $175 that has been in limbo because the shop can't procure the extractor from the usual suspects. He offered up the Ultra as a straight trade. I have a mag set up how I like it (sporter barrel, Tamer, 2.5x scope). Weighs nothing and points great. So I am flipflopping on the Ultra which I just believe to be a very heavy (in lbs) bull barrel with a lami stock.

Well, I like mine in BC-Carbine wood (used the UV lam wood on another CF) and it is always ready to play with or go for a walk, regardless of if I got around to reloading or not. Quite a few factory offerings now in that caliber and it works pretty well.
BTW, that Sav 219 isnt a lightweight either, is it? It is getting harder to find parts to keep the old guns working, especially those that were 'cheap, working guns', like that model.

Had some rust freckles on the receiver. Passed. Picked up a a minty green lami 20 gauge USH for the same price, same place. For the 4 hours a year that I hunt with a slug gun....lol.
