I agree that it is a helluva marketing gimmick and it worked. It has also sold a lot of .410 and .45 Colt ammo. I never understood it to be a hunting firearm, solely for self defense against humans. I guess I don't understand the 25 yard benchmark or even 15 yards as I understood most self-defense situations to be at shorter ranges. I can see the value as a deterrent and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end at 15-20 feet.
Having said that, to me it's ugly, over-priced and I'll never own one.
I guess its scary looking and there is something to be said for that. While I would certainly be worried if any gun was being pointed at me,I think if for some bizarre reason it was MY choice (and I couldn't choose a Lorcin 25acp that had spent 20 years being exposed to muddy salt water without being cleaned) and the choice was between my attacker having a Judge or a Kimber 1911 I would choose the Judge.
