Back to Square One
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:49:47 AM »
I got a new 2 year old Beagle, Marley, out of the Humane Society last week.  He came named "Marley" which was appropriate since Marley's is my favorite lunch/watering hole in Manistique, MI.  Yesterday Patty and a lady friend were loading stuff out to do a spinning and weaving demonstration at "Heritage Days" here in town.  Marley was all excited and knocked over my Handi .223 standing by the back door; I have been having yote and fox problems.  I took it out this morning and couldn't even find the 300 yard gong with it.  I don't know if he just knocked it out of whack, or damaged the scope.  It's going to the shoot next week, so I've got to get it resolved. ^%&&*((*%^#$#@# dog!!!

Sorry to hear that Pete, you'll get it back to normal soon, I'm sure. Next time you're shopping, pick up a few of these, they're real "Handi"!!  ;)

As in Murphy's law?  I think Marley Murphy would be a good name.  This rifle was dead nuts on at 300.  I only bore sighted it and then put it on paper at 30 yards and the weather turned crap so I put it up.  For some unknown reason, I grabbed it and knocked over a chuck at 310 to 325 yards.  A pigeon later at about 275.  I mean it was perfect.  Now it won't hit didly squat.  The only good thing is Marley looks like he may be a hunter, and is up on the freezer looking out the window when I'm shooting.  I never saw a beagle jump like that.  He was in the kennel fence for about 20 minutes with Mabel, another beagle, and then he cleared the 5 foot woven wire and the 6 inch above hot wire in a single bound.  My friend was here with his full sized Chevy pickup; had the window open and his dog in the cab.  Marley never touched the door in his leap into the cab.  I think he may just be a keeper....just gotta break him of gun wreckin'.

Tim, I haven't seen those, but I could use 40 or 50.  Who stocks them?

Thanks,

Pete

I've had mine for years, I think just about any good hardware store should have them in the tool organizer or garden tool section, it's called a super hook.

Pete,

Harbor Freight has the hooks but I don't know if there is a Harbor Freight near the U.P.  If the boss & doc. let me go to the shoot in August I will try and remember to stop and pick up some of those hooks for you.

Marley gave me a good idea.  I am going to let Bandit hangout in my gun room next week.  That way if I don't win the Grayling shoot I will have a great excuse! ;)

Tom, there's no winnin or loosin.  I like the idea of wagering shot for shot and donating it to MD.  This is just a fun thing to do.  The targets are random.

Pete,

I am glad the targets are random because my POIs tend to be random as well. ;D
