I ain't hidin' from the law, so I'll fess up as to who I am. I'm Chris Adams, I hail from Dayton, OH originally, but my folks moved to Bluefield, VA when I was between 1st and 2nd grade, then on to Rock, WV when i was between 3rd and 4th grade, and have been in WV since I was 9. I'm now 41 and reside in Princeton, WV, so I guess I'm more Hillbilly than Buckeye at this point. I did get made fun of a lot in 2nd and 3rd grade because of my Yankee accent.
As to my moniker, Avyctes (uh vick teez) is a wizard in a story by Clark Ashton Smith called The Double Shadow. It's one of my favorite stories by Smith who was a pulp writer in the 20s, 30s and 40s. I also go by another of Smith's wizard characters called Malygris (mal uh griss) occasionally. I chose them because Chris Adams is often taken as a user name, and you have to admit, they're unique.
As to my signature, what can I say? I support the second amendment, I am pro life (and if you're pro choice I don't care to hear about it), and I believe the 2nd should be all the permit we require to carry concealed. I hold a WV permit and carry as allowed, and when I came across that full quote (which I had to abbreviate to fit the rules of the signature) it blew me away. Cicero was a Roman philosopher and wrote this nearly 2000 years ago. Here it is in full:
There exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right. When weapons reduce them to silence, the laws no longer expect one to await their pronouncements. For people who decide to wait for these will have to wait for justice, too and meanwhile they must suffer injustice first
