Depends on what you consider a heavy barrel.  If you mean a non tapered barrel, they offered them on the models 10,12,13,19,66 and I'm sure more.

They also made a L frame, I have a 686 Custom Service over-run. I find the 3" barrel is a lot longer then a 2 1/2, by that I mean is shoots better and has a longer ejector rod, feels like it is longer then it is. I think it is an ideal carry gun. Shotgunner

The S&W 65 looks just like the gun in the picture and is a 357 Magnum.  It is one of the sweetest shooting guns I have ever fired, a real favorite.  I have grown to prefer excellent fixed sights and find no disadvantage to them.  The adjustable sights on the S&W 19/66 make the gun feel too tall, like something is out of place.  The low sights on the barrel of the 13/65 seem just right and the gun just fits.

Nothing wrong with fixed sights!! My avatar is with fixed sights on a Model 10. Over the years I too have become a fan if them. Having had my issues with adjustable sights........ I will stick with fixed.
