Pick-up Questions

Hi all,
Couple questions:

- Are the Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi et al plants in the US all UAW?  Just curious.

- I need a 4x4 pick-up.  I don't tow anything, but need a place for the dog box when traveling during bird season.

Should I:
             a.) wait for good incentives and buy new later this summer/fall?
                 
             b.) buy used
                 
             c.) forget the pick-up and buy an older low dollar Suburban as a second hunting rig, and
                      buy a 2 wheel drive tacoma or civic to commute in (even insuring both).

C'mon I need some advice.  ???   ;D  What say you???

I want to say no, and that is one reason they are in the south as well.

I think HogFan is right. I think. I know that NUMMI (in Cali.) where my Pontiac/Toyota Vibe was built for instance was union, but Toyota closed it up in April. Curious, I did some digging on the internet about unions and Japanese car companies and they do seem to be non-union but I am not 100% sure on that... Honda builds cars in Ohio and Indiana, and Toyota builds some in Indiana and I think Subaru too. Not sure about those plants. Probably non-union but I'd need to see better confirmation than what I could come up with.

The reason I got interested is the topic came up one day with some folks I know and nobody really seemed to know the answer for sure so I did a little looking. Couldn't really find a site that definitively listed which offshore companies had unions here. But again, I suspect HogFan is correct.

well I waffled on that Dakota and missed it, but you might be on to something with that Suburban, I've seen a few of those around in pretty good shape for kinda cheap... cheaper than trucks, that's for sure.

 I got by for a long time without 4 WD. Depending on where you live a set of tire chains can do well when you need extra traction. I think a few years old, used would be the best bet on prices, research 1st. How about a Tacoma 'Prerunner' 2 WD for work & play?
