How is this for a stupid Groundhog?

How is this for a stupid Groundhog? I was at the range today working up some loads. While I was waiting for the barrel to cool this little guy pops out at the 100 yard back stop. I have been shooting at this range for a few years and have had this happen before and shot them then as well. I just happened to have a camera phone on me this time. So is he stupid or what? Oh by the way this makes 17 Groundhogs this season. Take care Dale

Sometimes stupid is good...

Did I ever tell you about the time I was eating lunch in the woods, my 1100 sitting on my lap and a doe steps out at 25 yards??? :)

Animals are great at sitting tight. It reminds me of a morning when my father and I were grouse hunting in fairly heavy cover with no luck. Around 10 am we sat on a log and had a snack and drink, chatted for about 15 minutes. When we got up a grouse flushed 10 yards in front of us-just about scared us to death.
That bird held all that time until we got up. I have heard that hunters will walk by 1/2 the grouse and that probably is true for other critters.

It was nice of you to put that little starving critter out of its misery. We grow em a bit bigger around here ;D I had a family in my 200yd backstop and was waiting for the baby targets to grow and I think they all left. Didn't get one again this year.

A buddy and I were pheasant hunting in Iowa several years back and stopped for a smoke. We were in waist high grass and stood and talked quite a while. All of a sudden a hen looked like it flew out of his pocket, we laughed, then another and another. We changed our style to walk a bit and stop a bit. It worked real good ;) I think they get nervous if you don't walk right by them.

he won't have the guts to do that again dale. i had a young moose walk out at the 100 yd line at our local range one early spring day. no i didn't shoot him but i did talk to him till he left

I have chucks living in my shooting backstop. Several times I have taken pics through my rifle scope with the cross hairs on the chuck.
I would really love to catch a baby in the spring for a pet
