Unit 54

Long time CO resident here; looking for a little info. I just picked up leftover tags in unit 54 for 3rd rifle season.
Anybody have some knowledge of this area and some likely hot spots? Plan to start checking out the area in the next few weeks.

Sorry, bad description. Actually was the leftover-draw for those who were unsuccessfull at drawing a regular limited license. Applied originally for a muzzleloading elk with several others in a unit with a large amount of tags available. Got the pref point first and the application for basicly a second draw. Now I am all alone since the other 3 guys decided to go archery.

I will have some knowledge in a couple weeks.  Heading to the Wilderness area of 54 for achery hunt starting on the 11th.  We also tried for a ML tag but got second choice with archery.  The bummer is that we pulled a ML mule deer tag so we have to lug around 2 weapons and wear orange when we have the ML'er.   Good thing is that we didn't lose our elk points. How many points did you have when you applied.  Two of us had 5 and one had 2, which is what busted us...

Buckskin,
the original intent was for 4 of us to do a group app, but it turned into separate apps. basically just luck of the draw that we missed. group app we would have succeeded.
I did'nt have any points at all; it's been 6 years since I went last. Established groups hate to add a "newbie" and I don't like going it alone. but this time I got to go even if I spend it all just watching 'em go by.
