Recently picked up a TC Venture in 270 win at a descent price and mounted a nikon monarch 3x12-42 on it. Finally got it to the range on Saturday. I first tried some factory Rem 130 gr stuff and got slightly over an inch at 100 yards. (I had bore sighted first). Then I tried some of my handloads. Using Sierra 130 gr SBT, I tried their "accuracy " load of 56.7 of Re22, WLR and RP brass, at 3.300 OAL. This load was only OK, giving groups of about 2". I then tried my next shot-in -the-dark load, which was 57.5 of RE22, Sierra 130 SBT, WLR, RP brass and 3.300 OAL.
For 4 shots (that was all I loaded of this load), it shot a group of 0.61" in a slight vertical pattern. Not too bad.
I'll make more of these and come back for some further verifications.
Overall, not a bad rifle. Trigger was slightly less than 3 lbs, on my digital scales, from the factory. Only thing I did was do somewhat of a proper break-in, cleaning it good first, shot one, clean it, shot a couple, clean it, etc. All of the shooting above was done with no cleaning in-between.
thanks,
