Isn't it time we were tired of WIMPY politicians ?
« on: August 02, 2010, 04:46:18 AM »
  So many times we see after some old, crooked politician has passed away..his fellow politicians of every stripe stand around praising him/her to the heavens. They boast about his great contributions, fearlessness, sober judgement and integrity..
   Often his great "contributions" are contributions to his campaign..or campaign money contributed to his personal bank account, his "fearlessness"..that he wasn't afraid to raise our taxes, "sober judgement"..whenever they could get him sobered up and "integrity"..where he somehow integrated our tax money to fund a highway named after himself...
    How refreshing to hear one call a crook..a crook..or a wimp..a wimp.... Buit hjere's one who doesn't speak with a "forked tongue"...

I know I'm pretty tired of politicians who don't seem to know wrong from right and who would be much more at home in Soviet Russia than in the United States of America.

She is just a puppet of the media and the polls. She gave up her stand against big corporate oil that won her the Alaska Governorship and has started spouting what ever gets a positive media response related to being a populist parrot. She is trying to hang on by any means possible. If she doesn't find a real cause to support she won't last long. She doesn't have a true center. eddiegjr

  They should be Pat/Rick, RICO was supposedly enacted to fight organized crime...but not a peep..with the Chicago mob in place.

    I find it comical when the message is brought concerning the federal govt refusing to enforce our federal laws, then feds attack the most victimized states when the states try to enforce that same law!
  It is then that the loonie left comes howling out to "attack the messenger"... :D ;D :P

Gee...imagine that, leaving office when it is clear that the Deems (sic) in the AK legislature will ruin her and the state with BS suits and investigations every time she sneezes.  She did what was best for her state and her family.  Amazing the hate and intolerance the o, so tolerant, diverse, and inclusive left has for her.  If she is really as stupid and ineffective as Kos and HuffPo claim, then why all the leftist frothing at the mouth when she says Hello?

   Did Hillary finish her term as senator ? Did Obummy do the same ?
     ....And nobody was bringing stupid lawsuit after frivilous lawsuit after them. Even when proven not guilty, as she was in all cases..it was very costly. She had to pay her lawyers, while her antagonist Democrats were spending tax money. If you can't grasp that kind of dirty politics..you better buy a full can of SMARTS !

  Not that they are above it, but I have yet to see the Republicans play that kind of a low-down dirty game. Republicans can be dirty, but never so low in the gutter it seems, as the Dems are willing to wallow.
   Guess they came by it honest...got it from their Marxist mentors.. :D

How true! All you have to do is look at who hates her, and that pretty much tells the story of what she is about. Ever notice the hate that piles up on top of a Christian if they are thinking about running for office.
 Not all that long ago, look at the hate that was piled on Alan Keyes. A black man running for Prez., but there was one problem, he was a Christian. As soon as he won a few states the liberal left and the media came out in full force against him. Where were all the blacks and Oprah when Keyes needed them? Keyes was certainly for change. I guess the difference is that people like Keyes and Palin don't stand at the podium and tell everyone that government is going to give them everything their heart desires, on top of tax payers backs.

Eddie. I believe she has more of a true center than the majority of the people in office now.

DDZ;
  The huge tragedy of the Alan Keyes story;
  Alan Keyes is an honest man...who was badly mistreated by a dishonest media. Keyes insisted upon a very high moral and lifestyle standard being maintained by anyone in public office.
  Keyes was a man with a firm grasp of the greatness of America and the aims of it's founderrs. Above all Keyes is A CONSTITUTIONALIST !!

        Unfortunately, the lamestream media, likely in their hate for genuine Christians, strongly influenced the mush-minded in Chicagoland to vote for his opponent..BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA.
     Now, the whole nation suffers for such bigotry....and stupidity..

Going back to the original topic, I'm MORE tired of people thinking that all that is needed to run the largest economy on the face of the planet is ignorance and bravado. Why do people seem to be so afraid of anyone with an education. Every one of my captains in the sub service were college grads. It's amazing they didn't just run away from the Russians cause according to most I read on this site anybody with a college education that can actually spell cojones is a left wing sissy girl.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

It has more to do with FEAR than hate. The dems can't stand the thought of a president with family values and high moral standards. POWDERMAN.  ::) ::)

Nobody is afraid of a politician with an education. It's when they don't apply common sense with their decision. College professors that teach a course, but have never got into the real world and actually used their knowledge to make a living other than to tell somebody how it's done. I can read a book and tell you how to jump out of an airplane,and pull a rip cord, but because I've never done it, I wouldn't make a very good instructor.
Lets pass laws that affect everybody, but the politicians. You can't have an increase in your S.S. but I'll vote myself a raise. You have to drive a mini car that gets 40mpg, and don't turn your air conditioner down past 80, but I have a limo and a house that uses more energy than 3 house's combined. Education is a good thing, but if your an elitist with an education, your nothing more than an a-hole. gypsyman

There are all kinds of "educations"; some are easy, such as when a pampered child is "spoon fed" in an ivy league setting. Others are more difficult and more dearly attained, by suffering through the vicissitudes of life. Many things are not well taught in a classroom setting but that is where some of the supposed "best and brightest" spend their entire lives. Just how much experiential wisdom can be obtained in that way? likely a person with no more real life experience than a classroom setting would be a "babe in the woods" in many real-world settings.
  opur current excuse for a president seems to have a penchant for seeking help only from this "real life experience deprived" setting.
      So;
 1) He hires an Ivy league whiz-kid secy of the treasury, who doesn't even know how to pay his taxes!  :o

 2) When the BP oil spill began, the whiz kid prez decided to ask some ivy league egg heads what to do and how to contain the spill.
  He specifically eschewed any assistance from "real world" oil men and the spill continued unabated and unrecovered 70 days later. ::)

 3) He starts hiring "highly educated Czars" to make decisions which were formerly made by congress and various agencies. Some of his Czars come in first  day, spouting Marxist rhetoric. Not too smart..correct?

 4) Then this brilliant "neighborhood activist" next tries to convert the U.S. into 57 individual states. Of course, this may simply have been a "freudian slip'..there ARE 57 Islamic states!
    http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/05/57-islamic-stat.html

 5) Ask any well read 4th grader; when speaking of a Navy corpsman, the term is properly pronounced core-man..not corpse-man!
  Hopefully, they need not deal that much with corpses.. :P

...Then of course, he has a vice prez , highly educated (law degree, Syracuse U.), who is continually suffering from foot-in-mouth disease !

  ...And let us not forget the ivy league, Rhodes scholar..who didn't know how to refrain from staining a bimbo's blue dress !

   Now, I am not in any way disparaging advanced education, but rather reaffirming that it is not the "end all" and "be all". as any worthwhile college instructor will tell you, what you get in class is the START of success. Practical application and knowledge gained through experience round out a full; man.
  Unfortunately, some are considered brilliant...and never have graduated from the classroom!
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

   So, every one of your captains were college grads..and they didn't run! are you trying to say that your non college grad EMs would have run, were they not shepherded by your college grad captains? ..Or is it possible that the EM were fully as brave and committed as your captains?
  Now, I know the sub service does play "war games' with their Russian counterparts, but when were we in direct conflict and in imminent danger of an armed clash with the Russians ? ???
  Frankly, I know many current military men, some college grads, some not. Level of classroom achievement has little to do with the pluck or courage they demonstrate. The fact is that those 3 or 4 who vluntarily served in the most dangerous jobs (Marine spec ops, Ranger, bomb detection dogs etc) ...requiring greater courage, just happen to be HS grads only, for the time being.
  Your last statement seems to speak volumes! After berating posters here concerning your conclusions, you seem to accuse us of being in ignorant bliss. You sound eerily like the elitist bores of which we speak.  ;) :D

  Please keep in mind, congress has collectively, probably a thousand college degrees or better. Still, when Nancy Pelosi told them, " you must pass this bill, so you can find out what's in it", more than half of these brilliant folks dutifully behaved as lap dogs ..and followed her orders!

      Perhaps it is yourself who "hasn't a clue"!  :D ;D
   You carry on about the sub captains who have this indomitable courage  because they are collegs grads. I would submit that any courage they have is in spite of their college degree, not because of it! My degree plays no part in such a category and I never expected it to.
  In what manner do you suggest college instills an extra measure of courage, and by what method?

   Here, we see some troops involved in conflict, perhaps some have a college degree, but by law of averages, most likely do not:
     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M5J_VYKo6s&feature=related

   Are you attempting to infer that the bulk of these courageous Marines do not possess the intestinal fortitude in equal measure with your "sub captains". If you do, I suggest you are the "clueless" one.. ;)
  I hasten to remind you that two of our greatest heroes, Audie Murphy and Alvin York were not highly educated...so please, climb down from your elitist hobby horse!
