feedback of scopes used on 50 cal

what are some different scopes being used out there. Wis lifted the ban on scopes, I'm set to go purchase one. I have a T/C Encore 50 cal.

I have a Nikon Omega 1.8-5x36. I hunt with it at 3x or 4x, it is a very solid, bright, sharp scope. I am very happy with it. It has the Nkoplex reticle, a bit too thin but it is visible enough at dusk and dawn. No problem taking 150 yard shots. It has 5'' of eye relief and allows me to aim fast with both eyes open. It has held up well to mine washing the barrel and scope with kitchen hose and warm and cold water. It is mounted on a CVA Wolf (1" groups at 100 yards). This allowed me to try the tracking and adjustments on the scope. They are very precise and repeatable.

I just ordered my fifth Simmons 4X ProDiamond shotgun scope for one of my Renegades.  You might say I like them.  They're $40 at Natchez Shooters Supply (http://www.natchezss.com/) and Simmons has a 25% rebate in effect until end December.

Here's one on my little Omega X7.


Here's my review of that scope.

I did use a Swift at one time...I don't use scopes on BP, but I did set one up for my dad. He liked it real well and it shot nicely for him.

With the limited range offered by BP firearms, you'd be well served by going with a fixed power 4X...

 I've been using a Burris FF 2-7 on my Knight with the BP reticle. It's been fine the last few years but I'm thinking of going lower pwr / higher quality. I have actually been using my M-L more than centerfire the last few years, IL hunting. I have 2 Leupold Vari-x-III 1.75-6 scopes that mostly just sit on guns in the safe. I would need to keep one ready but the other could come off. I also usually hunt where I leave my scope set in the 2-3 power area. I've always really liked the 1.75-6 on the 308 & 284win.

Actually the 2010 regs are out and it states that scopes with magnification are still NOT legal to use during the muzzy season in Wis. I called the dnr on this because I was all ready to go purchase a leupold ultimate slam for my endeavor. They said the articles written were incorrect.  They said it is currently in legislation. It could pass before hunting season or it could be in legislation for some time. Seems to me that even though it got voted in almost unanimously they are going to drag their feet and keep it from passing as long as they can.

depends on your price range, and what you are looking to do with it.  if you are going to punch a lot of paper all year long as well as hunt with it, maybe look into a good variable range scope.  for less target shootig and hunting with only shorter shots available like i am limited to in the woods around me, a simple fixed 4 would be hard to beat, and economically priced as well.  although i hunt in thick woods primarily, i like to shoot paper the other 10 months im not hunting, so a minimum of 3x9 is required.  you mentioned having a T/C, and all i can think is that a feller wouldn't want to put a $40 scope on a $500 rifle.  even if you choose a fixed 4 i would say the weaver K4 would be hard to beat and its one tough scope  ;)

many scopes out there to fill every niche and need..

I ordered a redfield 3x9x40 and really like. Very nice scope for 150 bucks.
