I here now the big argument is Rep want to keep Tax cuts Permanent and the Dems want to repeal for the Top 2% and keep in place for the middle class. Hey , heres a concept how about no loop holes and lets just tax everyone the same. I make 10k and you tax me 10%  -  top 2 % make a mil and you tax them 10%. Works for me.

I like the flat tax idea, only maybe a little higher rate for a few years to pay down debt along with spending cuts. The problem Progressives  have with that is it wouldn't pay for reperations and wellfare programs to all the people the white man has wronged over the years. And they wouldn't get as rich themselves since they produce little or nothing and instead make their money off of the ones who do.

I think a flat tax without deductions, except maybe children and a mortgage should be it.  Rich get off not paying taxes by using tax loopholes in the complicated system now.  For instance Bill Gates owns a boatload of stock in Microsoft because he started the company.  He doesn't pay taxes on it until he cashes in the stock.  So he only cashes in what he wants or needs and pays taxes on that.  His corporation might own his house, car, ect, which are perks provided to the CEO.  He didn't buy them or pay for them, but his corporation owns them.  Getting rid of income tax and having a national sales tax might generate more money for the feds.  People can keep all their money, invest it, save it, do whatever with it.  Only pay tax when they buy something.  Then if a big corporation needs to buy vehicles, or equipment, or whatever, they pay tax on the value of what they buy.  Like 5% or something.  Food could be exempt at the grocery stores because everyone has to eat, it is a necessity, so no tax on food.  Now, tax can be leved on say a potato chip maker.  He is taking a raw product and processing it, packaging it, and then selling it.  One can buy a bag of potatos without tax or buy the chips with tax.

People crack me up! They want a flat tax so everyone pays the same, except for them self’s. If they have kids and a moorage they want that to be deductible.
  The next guy wants what ever his deal is to be deductible. ;D

HUMMMM!
EVERBODY wants a law passed to keep others from having an opinion or acting as a free moral agent.
This includes Dems and Reps.
I want he one bullet law.
You can shoot and kill one person, with no fear of legal reprisal during your life.
I want an amendment to this: If that person you kill still has his/her bullet, you can keep it and use it.

You are not going to come close to getting a flat tax in congress without deductions for kids or a mortgage.  People need to be able to buy their own homes, makes them more responsible citizens, have ownership in the country they live in.  Makes them want to take care of their things and place.  I think it should require a down payment so you have a vested interest and don't walk away from a mortgage like some have, and I think it should require you having a full time job.  On kids, they cost money to raise, so with the 5% VAT tax on all goods.  Food is a necessity, ALL people would get the taxes off food.  However some process foods could be taxed, because you are either paying for a luxury or convenience.  Processed foods, and restaruant foods should be taxed.  You can cook your own food at home and/or take a lunch to work.

  If the present administration gets their way, we will all soon be paying a "flat tax". It will be called VAT (value added tax) which will probably amount to 15%-20% extra on everything we buy.
   One problem; the way the Obammys see it..that won't be in lieu of all other taxes, but rather in addition to all other taxes, e.g. Fed income tax, state income tax, state sales tax, excise taxes, taxes on gas & petroleum, road use taxes etc, etc, on and on.. ad nauseum.

TM7 ,
I Really don't know if I'm a flat taxer or not, I would just like a level playing field so no one rich or poor,  dem or rep,  can cry foul. There has to be some solution, some middle ground. What I do know is the system we have now doesn't work. It's disgusting that most Americans must work approx 100 days a year just to pay for their yearly taxes. That's 3 + months a year just to work and give it to the Gov't.  ???

How about we get rid of Tax exempt status's in America. Nothing is tax Exempt Anymore !!!
Maybe churches should start paying taxes.  I'm just lettin of steam but you get my point.

They have taken away almost all the working class deductions anyway.
Maybe I outta convert my house into a church.

Agreed, the "middle class" is tapped out...
  Now comes Teddy Nadler (D-NYC) who suggests the bush tax cuts be allowed to run out...except for the "blue states"...DUH!

   Guess he never heard of the "equal protection" clause of the US Constitution...

Most people don't realize ,

Each year, Congress is automatically given a pay raise of about $1,500,
but they blocked this year’s pay raise with both chambers of Congress
and they are set to block next year’s raise as well. The Senate passed their
own pay raise blocking bill by unanimous consent, without a roll call vote.

Senators and representatives currently make $174,000 a year.

The final vote count was 402-15
Here’s a list of the 15 “no” votes (all Democrats):

I like to see them go back to their constituents and explain
their no vote."

 * Rep. James Clyburn [D, SC-6]
    * Rep. John Conyers [D, MI-14]
    * Rep. Donna Edwards [D, MD-4]
    * Rep. Keith Ellison [D, MN-5]
    * Rep. Sheila Jackson -Lee [D, TX-18]
    * Rep. Eddie Johnson [D, TX-30]
    * Rep. Carolyn Kilp atrick [D, MI-13]
    * Rep. Barbara Lee [D, CA-9]
    * Rep. Gregory Meeks [D, NY-6]
    * Rep. James Moran [D, VA-8]
    * Rep. Donald Payne [D, NJ-10]
    * Rep. Bennie Thompson [D, MS-2]
    * Rep. Edolphus Towns [D, NY-10]
    * Rep. Melvin Watt [D, NC-12]
    * Rep. Lynn Woolsey [D, CA-6]

TM;
  That guy is right on! he "tells it like it is". I have been enjoying the "spin crafting" which is emenating from Washington. The administration is now creating lies from whole cloth..and some rinos are helping them to do so.
   It is comical to see them handle it the same way..using the same lies, they have used for decades, concerning the "global warming' fairy tale.
  A) If unemployment drops, that's good news, if unemployment rises, that's good news.  ;)
  B) If 2,000 small businesses hire some temps..that's progress, if 2,000 small businesses close their doors..that's progress. :P
  C) If new houising starts go up..that's a positive sign, If new housing starts drop..that's a positive sign..  :D
  D) If GM has a profitable quarter..great indicator, if GM has a crummy quarter...that is a great indicator.

   You get the idea, same old modus operandi as was used to promote the "global warming" fiction.

   The oil spill in the gulf has been an albatross around the neck of the administration.. how surprised we were to hear that the multi-million barrels of oil..just disappeared..don't know where it went..just disappeared..
  After the November elections, they may "discover" it lying on the sea bed... ;) :D
