Red River Gorge

I'm considering a short (3-4 day) vacation to the RRG in KY.  What should I do/see and when will the fall colors be the best. Can anyone recommend a good 'dispersed use' campsite? Any info other than the government line would be appreciated.

Also the Daniel Boone NF in general, not just RRG.
