My .300 at 200

Took my 722 .300 Savage out to the 200 yard range with some full power reloads.A Rem 150 PSPCL over 43 gr of 748 in Win cases OAL 2.565 and chrono'd at 2675 fps with a shot to shot deviation of 11 fps(!).My 722 wears the factory open sights, which I blacked to reduce glare, and  the target was an 8 inch bull with a 3 inch wide band under it to give a consistent hold.WELL, I was surprised that my rifle ,being zeroed 2 1/2 inches high at 100 is dead on at 200.My first group was 8 inches. The first shot hit low and the next 2 were 1 7/8 inches apart.I shoot 3 round groups with hunting rifles and the next 5 3 rounders were all in the 5 - 6 inch range excepting one group that measured 2 1/4 inches. For 47 year old eyes firing a 62 year old rifle with bead and u notch sights I'm very happy indeed!I've GOT to hunt up a Lyman 48. Don't let long( ish) range shooting intimidate you.Give it a try!If nothing else you'll get plenty of exercise checking your targets!
The LORD bless and keep you.The LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.The LORD look upon you with favor and bring you peace.
