I've personally never seen a load using Red Dot for the 500, but I'd assume there is one.

I know for the 45-70 you can use 13gr's of Red Dot under a 405gr bullet for a nice light plinking load.  So the size of the case doesn't appear to be a hindering factor.  Just may lack load development.  (this isn't to say that 13grs of Red Dot would work in a 500 case)

That 13 grain Red Dot load is a classic. C.E. Harris did a lot of developmental work with it; he calls it "the load". It can be used across many (most?) CF rifle cartridges (must be .30 or larger, strong action) and with a variety of bullet weights.

If I were trying it in the .500, I'd use the lightest bullets.

I wouldn't use the 13.0 grain load in the .500SW.  While it works good for bottlenecked rifle cases with cast bullets, I'd be leery of putting it in the .500.

Having said that, there are loads I use that aren't listed in many places but I use them with the full knowledge that I'm treading on untested ground, so I try to be very cautious in those instances.  Using a powder as fast as Red Dot, you can get into trouble quickly.
