30-40 krag

My question would be why?  Do you have a stockpile of 30-40 Krag? Not knocking the 30-40 Krag, I have 2 Krag-Jorgensen rifles, but doubt if I would ever invest in an Encore barrel in 30-40 Krag.
Men who feel strong in the justice of their cause, or confident in their powers, do not waste breath in childish boasts of their own superiority and querulous depreciation of their antagonists.

I got a 14" in a 30-40 Krag for the Contender also.  The only time I shot it was to see what it would do at 100 with factory loads.  Need to bench it to find out better, was a little surprised when I first touched it off. :)

30/40 Krag

Hello :D  I have a 30/40 Krag in a Super 14" Contender also(this is what got my T/C "itis' started). I grew up shooting an old 1896 Krag and when I spotted a SSK re-chamber of a 30 Herrett in my gun shop I jumped on it. It's accurate and a real deer stopper! It really likes factory Rem. 180gr Core-loks. I handload for it and the 150gr bullet is a good deer round. I fits inbetween a 309JDJ and the 30/30 as far as ballistics goes. Like PORKYPINE said"stay within the limits of this round and you'll be OK"
