SSi goes to the range.
« on: December 01, 2003, 02:50:48 PM »
Finally got my SSi to the range and shot a couple of boxes of Remington 308 150 gr. SPs.  I like everything about the rifle but the trigger.  My best groups were just over 1" at 100 yards.  I know this rifle could shoot under an inch with some trigger work.  The trigger is heavy with some creep.  The action works much better after rubbing in a dry graphite and moly lube I had on hand.  The weight of the SSi made the 308s pleasant to shoot about as much recoil as a 20 ga. shotgun.   I ordered a 223 barrel which should be in this week but it's going to have to wait untill I get a scope and trigger work.  This rifle is going to be my deerstand gun and my 1894c Marlin will be for humping in the woods.
