Stevens 200 on sale
« on: August 08, 2010, 06:42:00 PM »
Broken record replay number xxxx.  Academy has their Stevens 200 (7mm-08 or 270 only) on sale for $179.  Also their Bushnell 3200 3-9x40 for $149.  Just thought I would pass that along for those with one near by (or is it buy).

That is a fantastic price, here in Pa, the best price I can get on the Edge is $259.99 or the Stevens for $299.00.

I do not know if they have regional ads or not but this was in the Sunday paper in Galveston, Tx.

I saw the add on-line, trouble is, Academy is a Southern and Southwest chain, closest one to me would be 500 miles. But it’s the best price I have seen on the 200.

Academy bought a large quantity of Stevens 200s in those calibers for last Christmas season.  Last time I looked in Academy store near me in Humble Tx., probably had at least 15 or more of them left to sell.

Well, the Stevens 200 has been pulled of fthe website, and many stores no longer honoring the $179 price. Academy says the ad was a misprint.

Well anyone that got one for that price got a great deal. Your right the add has been pulled on-line, I will bet they had some ticked off customers.

Dropped in on the Humble, Tx Academny store yesterday to shop.  Clerk in hunting section told me their Stevens 200s were on sale for $179 and showed me a display sign with this price.  Chuckle, the Stevens sign was hidden by another sign about BSA optics.  As I posted earlier, this store had over 15 200s to sell, mostly 270 Win and a few 7mm-08s.

That's what I figured.  Holy moly $179 is an awesome price for those.  I'd get 1 each of both .270 and 7mm-08 at that price - and possibly another .270 for my brother too (his only rifle is a .30-30 - he's started hunting over big fields lately and has had my Savage .30-06 as a loaner for over a year now.  He pretty much fell in love with that gun.  I think the only way I'm getting that rifle back is to buy him something similar :D).

Unfortunately there are no Academy Sports that I know of around here.  There's a Sports Authority fairly close, and a Dicks a little farther out.  If I feel like driving for 2 hours I can make it to a Bass Pro Shops, but that's about it for big sports stores around here.

I bought one of these last year for $199 and $50 off if you opened a credit account.  Out the door for $162.  Not a real pretty thing but it shoots 1/2 inch groups!!  Really surprising.  Great for the money.

deerman12,

Went into my local Academny store yesterday hoping the Stevens 200 still on sale for $179, but now priced back at $249.  Would have done the $50 off for any purchase over $150 for applying for Academny credit card and also receive a $25 gift card from some other kind of promotion......so I figured rifle would have cost me about $115.  Store had sold about 14 of the rifles when sale priced at $179 and several of guys I shoot with regularly bought about 6 of them just to get the actions for future custom rifle builds.

I would tell those guys to shoot them before they tear them apart for the actions.  I really can't believe how good this thing shoots.  What is hard for me to understand why a custom rifle that cost $3000 can't shoot this well sometimes? :-\

i just recently bought my 2nd stevens 200, slightly used with a bushnell banner. this gives me a .223 and a .308 with basically the same rifle/scope combo. both shoot great and handle the same. i can see why people would want more than one
