Anyone Have a Problem Posting here on GBO

 I don't think its my PC as it doesn't happen other places its seems that when I make a post the cursor starts to stutter
I also use copy, past a ,If I do that the Mouse actually walks on its own maybe I have a virus a very strange one
 Also happens when I use Spell Check (not GBO's ) my own
SO is it me or anyone else

I guess I can blame it on the new banner Pop up

I have no clue what to tell you but then I'm not very technically competent. I'm on here all the time and have had no such problems. I seem to recall quite a long while back when Microsoft did an update on my IE browser that such things started happening here and on other sites that use similar software. I guess the next update fixed it tho as I've not see anything like that in a really long time.

I have a problem when typing a post that is larger than the text box.  It won't stay scrolled down to where I am typing.  If I scroll down and then hit a key, I jumps back to the top of the post.  It does the same when trying to highlight something.  As long as I stay at the top of the post it is fine.  When I scroll down it won't highlight, It just jumps back to the top.  I don't know if this is the same problem as yours or not.

I have had that same problem for a long time.  It doesn't happen every time I type a post, just sometimes, which makes me think it has something to do with the way I type...    I dunno...

I am having the same problem with post larger than the box.  If I go past the bottom of the box the post starts jumping back up and won't stay down where I am typing.  I sent this to Matt and he thinks it is my new computer.  So I tried it on my old computer and it is doing the same.  Also on my lap top.  It's very annoying.  What I have been doing is typing the post in a word document and then copy and pasting it into the post.  Works fine that way. 

Three computers I doubt the problem is on my end. 

Now others are complaining of the same problem.

GB, I think we have a problem here.  Don't know what you can do about it.  If you can not find a problem how can you fix it?

Don't worry we probably understand more that you would think-if it wa perfect.

I found it difficult to modify because you can't highlight the area.  You have to delete a letter at a time without actually seeing it.  If I want to show something in bold, I have to type the [ ] before and the [ ] after it manually.

Hmm, I really thought that was gone for all since it's been long gone for me. I am familiar with the problem now that it has been more fully explained. No sorry it's not fixable by us.

There is some sort of incompatibility between this type software which is one of the more commonly used softwares these days and some versions of IE. When Microsoft updated me to IE7 it began and they were fully aware of the problem but said they would not fix it in IE7 but it would be cured in IE8 according to what Matt told me back then.

I can't say what changed on my computer some new update I suppose but I don't think I've seen it anytime at all this year. Now over at Bigfoot Study site which I no longer own and which uses this same software it still happens to me if my post is longer than the box here to type into. It does not at GBO and I figured some update we made here but not at BFS had fixed it or maybe an update on my computer combined with updates at GBO.

I assume that those of you still having the problem have an older version of the IE browser running on your computer or you just haven't let Microsoft do an update recently. I'm not even sure what version I am running now but no matter how long my post is that doesn't happen.

So bottom line it's not fixable by us, it's NOT unique to GBO but rather to the SMF software we and thousands or more likely tens of thousands of sites use but only in combination with some versions of some browsers. It doesn't occur to the best of my knowledge except on IE and only with certain versions of it.

I use Firefox as a browser, and have never had that problem, and even though I still have windows XP on this PC, I also have Ubuntu as a operating system, and use it often. As a matter of fact, as soon as I become proficient using it, I'll switch to it exclusively. Won't have to put up with all the anti-virus software to slow down the system
