Just wondering if anyone has a good Williams peep or ghost rear base setup, and which part number is correct for the base on a 45-70?

For shooting up to 200 yards, which ghost ring or peep are the most practical?  Also considering this rifle will be doing some close-quarters close range brush hunting for hogs.

Thanks!

If you're interested in something more "robust", we've got a new rear sight made, part # NDS-38. We're just waiting on some labels for the packaging before we open it up for orders.

Here's some pictures of it before they were blued.

You always show the rear sight. Let us see how tall the front sight might be.

Would it be close to 1" from the top of the barrel ? According to my calc. it is going to be tall.

If you're still looking for a Williams sight, you want the WGRS reciever sight.  It mounts to the barrel in the rear scope base holes.  It's part number Williams 17778, or Brownell's 962-100-158  Price at Brownell's is $37.95

That's what I've got on mine and it's a great sight.  If you want the aperture, you can use that.  If you want a ghost ring, simply unscrew the aperture and put it in your pocket.

The Williams WGRS is available from H&R for $25 shipped, see  Peep and Firesights in the FAQs, it's the standard sight on the 45-70 Buffalo Classic.  As Dennis said, you can use it without the aperture, or you can get a ghost ring aperture that replaces the aperture carrier on the sight, that's in the FAQs link too. For hunting, the Twilight aperture is a real nice alternative.
