M15 Classic
« on: August 11, 2010, 08:08:18 AM »
The other day while looking at the S&W site I saw that S&W is offering the Combat Masterpiece as a classic, looking at the picture it appears to be an M66, is this a photo mistake or are they fitting K 38 frames with old M66 barrels?

The new classics aren't exact copies of the originals.  They are modern revolvers made to look somewhat like the older ones.  They have the newer "MIM" parts and the "Clinton Lock".   The checkering and the diamond on the grips are not quite the same as the old ones either.   For the price they are asking, you could buy a nice shooter quality Model 15.

It does have the M-19 ejector rod housing. How weird. Good luck S&W on selling that sucker for a thousand bucks! I paid 250.00 for mine in like new condition. There are millions of them floating around out there. Don't know why anyone would buy one of those, "classics".
Actually that is true with a few of the new classic Smiths......IMO

Thats my thoughts too, it's more of an introduction of a M19 in 38 spec. like colt did with the python in the 70s.
