.45/.410 Super 16

I have a carbine with the 16" 45/410 barrel & choate survival stock I call my mini-me gun because it fits perfectly in the extra barrel secton of my case. It's a great set up for hunting here in western washington. I have my 7x30 waters carbine ready to go & if I see a grouse I have fast access to my .410.

I also orderd some williams fire sites that attach to the rib to try some Bitteroot .45LC bear loads & .410 slugs. I am hoping to find a load to at least be papper plate MOA @ 50 yards.

Have you patterned the 410 shells yet, Ed's TC has one, keep thinking about. Got any pics??

I did pattern it with 3" #5's & #7 1/2 @ 20 yds. The #5's had a hole in the middle a Rooster could fly though. The 7 1/2's did a lot better. I dont have a pic, but with the survival stock its only 30" long.

I tried the .45LC bear loads today & was able to hit a 3" orange target dot every shot @ 25yrds. I plan on using this set up for grouse, but if i see a bear close up, I will unscrew choke tube and shoot with 45LC.

I found a .410 quick change tube wrench used for sporting clays and attached to stock with parachute cord. Takes about 30 seconds to change over.

I now am getting 1" groups @ 25 yards & not much bigger @ 50 yards with the Bitterroot bear loads. This may be my new Elk/deer in the Timber gun. The big 300gr JHP is going over 1300fps from the 16" carbine barrel. I think I could hit a papper plate at 75 yards with it every time.
