Length and weight of your shorty?
« on: August 12, 2010, 06:00:22 AM »
18" Hornet with SB1/old style synthetic forearm/Varmint synthetic buttstock/medium rings/Bushnell Trophy 3-9/no sling/no bipod/no sights

About 33" OAL, 7.5lbs (measured on a Boga-Grip) fishing scale

In comparison, a laminated stock 12 gauge USH with a big scope is pushing 12.5lbs

The Hornet will be reconfigured with a Tamer stock or a wood youth stock the next time a cheap one shows up for sale, probably will drop to under 7lbs.

PM me your address and I'll send you a Tamer buttstock.
It was given to me and I'll give it to you. ;D

My .500 S&W shorty comes in at 30 1/4" and 6 1/4 lbs.  It actually looks kind of funny in my hands being that I'm 6' 4" and 260 :)

Here's the shortie Maxi.  32 in. OAL.  I don't know what it weighs, Patty doesn't allow "fat meters" in the house ::) ::)

Tim that is sweet.  I bought a frame from 44 Man, and he gave me a Whitetails Unlimited stock set.  I'm eager to see what it's gonna look like and how its gonna shoot.  I may use it for the bruin.  Baiting is underway.  I think I might put glass on it rather than a red dot, although any shots on bear are going to be about 50 yards.

Surprisingly it's not really that bad.
About the same as a standard 450 Marlin.

(3) shortys

357 Max - talo trapper, so 18 & 3/4" barrel, 34" oal

30-06 - 18 & 3/8" barrel, 33 1/2" OAL

45/70 - 18 & 7/16" barrel, 33 1/4" OAL.

No scale so no weights, but the '06 & 45 caliber are both over weight because the stock bolt holes are full of #4 shot.  All three are scoped w/o iron sights.

'06 is the hands down winner in my loudest handi contest. ;D
