Two much fun ??
« on: August 12, 2010, 11:29:33 AM »
The NEF Survivor on top is a 357 and I've had it for several years.  I cast my own bullets, so it's about as cheap as shooting a 22, but a lot more fun. I just put the scope on it this summer. The scope is an old 6X Valor.  When I sighted it in, I had no problem hitting shot gun shells at 50 yards just resting on the hood of the truck.

On the bottom is a new to me H & R in 45-70.  Working on loading some ammo and I've got a scope to put on it.  Can't wait to get this one to the range too. Dale

It sucks to grow old, but it's still better than dying young!

Like the survivor 357, whats the nickel barrel from? A Model 258 or another of H&R's rare offerings?
Just picked up a barrel from a 258 tho I'm going to stay with the original and use a set of BC-45lc on
it. Love to have one of the SS 45-70 myself but I am one of the unfortunate southpaw shooters and the
thumbhole is worthless. If I could get a barrel action alone for a reasonable price I will. Nice pair of
shooters. Enjoy,  Fred

Now there's a good deal.  That is the beauty of this forum.  That's exactly how we put together the 3 way trade and the .35 and .357 barrels with trotterlg's help.  It's an amazing place to be.

Hey Spike & Pete I would consider it as I have a Grey/black thumbhole laminate left hand set but
the problem is youall would want the factory set for Boyds bargain bay prices! I'd have to get at
least a fair market price.  Fred

Fred, I'm not in the market for a stock.....well I guess I am, but not a lefty.  I'm right handed.  I'm just thinking how good it is that we can communicate.

The barrel is marked Survivor as is the stock, so I assume they are both original.  The date code puts it as a 1996 model.  The date code on the 45-70 puts it at a 2008 model.  Dale

The nickel Survivor 357 has been offered from the factory before, only current nickel model is the 45/410.
