I'll be eagerly awaiting a similar speech at the start of the Nativity Fast, observed by Orthodox Christians, as well as one in early March before the start of the Great and Holy Lent.

On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I want to extend our best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world. Ramadan Kareem.

India, China, Japan all have a lower divorce rate than the west.  They are not Muslims.  Women's rights, having a job with pay, being able to own property, etc, all can lead to a higher divorce rate.  The less rights women have, the lower the divorce rate.  Divorce rate is not an indicator of happiness.  There are probably a lot of unhappy women in the world.  One of the reasons for women wearing jewelry, historicaly, is if they have gold jewelry, and they are divorced, they can sell it to live.
