Good news: The Rossi extension was on my doorstep today when I came back from a few days away.

Bad news: There's no way to make this extension fit on the Handi hammers. I tried an unmodified and a modified hammer. There's not enough clearance inside it to fit the hammer spur. Even if it did, this extension is way too bulky and wouldn't afford any benefits for a lower hammer mod. Oh yeah, they weigh 206 grains or 13.3grams. :o

Off to the General Classifieds it goes... :-\

Thanks, Dinny

Hammer extensions at Numrich.  Also the top one might be the small one mentioned in the FAQs for the drilled hammer.  No picture though.  All seem cheaper than ebay.
just fyi...

I am amused that they list the Universal extension as fitting a Savage 219. It is hammerless.

I had one on my .223 like in the first picture when I bought it. I found out that it flies a long way if the set screw is not tight enough! Never to be found. FYI, the Uncle Mikes is quite heavy for what it does. Tighten your screws!!! For the record, it was on it when I bought it, so I did not check it.

I was at the pit today and a guy there had a Handi .243 with a hammer spur that stuck off both sides of the hammer for a left or right hand shooter. (Like a double uncle mikes, just a little skinnier diameter of knurled parts.)I need one of these for when my neice goes along, she looked awkward trying to do it with her non dominant hand. Especially un-cocking it. If you know of where these are supplied please PM me.
thanks thejanitor

That's a Carlson's, they don't fit worth a darn on modern hammers without modifying the hammer spur.

Thanks Tim- It would be going on an older topper, so maybe I wouldn't have to modify too much. Next time I order from Midway I think I will add one. Thanks for the link. thejanitor

I have one on a Rossi combo that I stubbed the 410 into a 22 Hornet and rechambered the LR barrel to 22 Mag.  To lower the extension I mounted it upside down and then had to grind some off to clear the barrel release latch.  That worked, but it is a definate pain.  I will be at my place in AZ tomorrow where the rifle is , I will try to take some pictures.  I have a whole bag of H&R hammers I am working on from an (un-named person) I think I have it sorted out to do a very nice short hammer version.  Hope it works.  I will be home here in three weeks and with permission will post some pictures.   Larry
