wreckhog. I guess he's somebody??? I don't know him. There are at least a doz or more mega mosques planned all over America and Americans are getting fed up with it. Murpheesboro Tn, Nashville Tn, the real Americans are finally standing up and saying NOOOO, this is Gods country, take your devils cult somewhere else. All part of satans plan, infest every nation in the world, and they are. More and more preachers are standing up and calling islam what it is, I hope they all will before it's too late. Islam is a Godless cult, a false religion, and mohamed was a false prophet. Muslims have a false, dead prophet called mohamed, in hell. Christians have a very much alive Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Just got word my neighbor was rushed to the hospitol, gotta go. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

Wreckhog;
You say in reference to the mosque location question,"THOSE THAT DON'T LIVE THERE WHO ARE PROTESTING THIS, THEY ARE PAWNS".

That is an interesting and revealing remark. Since you are freely commenting upon the subject, apparently you live in NYC or immediate environs, since only that can qualify one to have an opinion.
By using the same measure then, since you obviously live in the city, anything you have to say about hunting and outdoor/country living can immediately be discarded, since you "DON'T LIVE THERE!"  ;) :D
This simply points up your failure to grasp the content of the question. It is not about real estate, schools, shopping or even the Constitution...It is about RESPECT for some 3,000 MURDERED PEOPLE !

     In your post #97 ;
Why am I not surprised that you use as backup, a far left radical writer who is STILL sipping the Obama Kool-Aid ?

I don't live there and I am not PROTESTING it. Gotcha. I hunt in my backyard. Which is in a rural/farming community zoned for a minimum of 5 acres (I have more than that). Gotcha again. I have worked at Ground Zero for more years than you can imagine. I do not recall ever commenting on outdoor living (what is that anyway? Homeless?) or country living.

The original question is flawed in that it refers to building a mosque at Ground Zero. One, it is not technically a mosque, two, it is not at Ground Zero (as admitted by others here).

Well, gee, if it isn't a mosque, then why all the screaming that blocking it would violate the Separation of Church and State?

Yep, twist and spin, twist and spin.

On the splitting hairs of "at" v. "within shouting distance of" is pure sophistry to muddy the waters.  The building that would be torn down for the indoctrination and propaganda center had human remains from the attack on its roof.  Too damned close for a monument to the islamic thugs who carried out the attacks.

The original question is flawed in that it refers to building a mosque at Ground Zero. One, it is not technically a mosque, two, it is not at Ground Zero (as admitted by others here).

You must then, by your own criteria.. not be qualified to offer an opinion, since you said that those who "do not live there" are so poorly informed that they are being used as "pawns"....and of course, "pawns" can be used by either side. I would opine that one who backs the Obam-mosque (a victory monument over the infidels), may well be the more deluded "pawn".
As far as calling the area "ground zero", I didn't really think you needed the distance spelled out to you. but since you seem to need that..566 feet from ground zero.   Actually, I doubt there is an official address as "Ground Zero", so I would suppose individual concepts would differ, one's opinion as viable as another's.
As far as whether it is a mosque, civic center or jihadist training installation..makes little difference.
I notice you seem to be wanting to play semantics games with me, attempting to correct my diction, choice of words and terminology..don't do it, I can play that game as well as anyone. problem is, we would bore others on the forum to tears, so why start ?

I like that you are buying my argument, and am feeling generous., If you can tell me the name of the person who's remains were found in that building, I'll throw you a bone. Else I suggest that you move to NYC, so that you can offer an informed opinion, else you are a pawn. Fair enough?

Regarding whether or not it is a mosque not making a difference, lets just call it a community center, ya know, since it don't matter what you call it.

566 feet huh? 501 feet and you can shoot next to your neighbor's house. 499 and you leave in bracelets. Guess that the number of feet does matter in the real world.

In the first place, they couldn't pay me enough to spend my days in NY City. Plus, I in no way feel out of place giving an opinion about NYC, since those denizens of NYC are very quick about proffering opinions about the millions of people in "flyover country" (something most of them know little about) between them and the left coast!
...And 499 won't get me bracelets, I am well known here and have permission from most in my area to hunt their land where desired. of course it is a reciprocal arrangement..so you have posted a moot point!
...And BTW keep your traps at least 15' from a beaver lodge..since we have shifted to game laws, just thought I'd throw that in! ;) :D ;D

To the proponents of building the mosque I ask again-What about tolerance and sensitivity. This issue has struck a negative cord with a majority of people. Why dont they just back off and build somewhere else in the name of understanding?

Or are only certain groups entitled to tolerance and sensitivity and everyone else can just go screw?

A funny thing is happening in NY State at the moment. Gov Patterson has been given the bum's rush by the Democrat party of NY. Patterson was lt gov, so when Spitzer was caught with his hand in something besides a cookie jar, Patterson took the gov seat. Now that Patterson has been unceremoniously DUMPED...in favor of Cuomo jr, Patterson is a lame duck. As a lame duck, no kid anymore..and being legally blind, he has a small future in politics...
Surprisingly, he is now often doing the "right thing' rather than the "left thing"...as the Dems expected him to do ;) :D   ...guess he would like to retire with a cleaner conscience than many NY governors...and the 2 current senators.

Yea that's my point!  Seems if it wasn't an in "your face" move they would see the pain, anguish  and controversy it is causing and find another empty building somewhere else

You had 4 years to tell them that, why did you wait? Keep in mind that NYC was encouraging businesses to open up shop down there.

As if the mosque controversy could not get any weirder, it turns out the person who found the site two blocks from Ground Zero was a teenage reality show contestant from Queens.

Not that young Francisco Patino can really be faulted.

He was just doing the bidding of a real estate developer who hired him in 2006 after chancing to see him on "American Inventor." The show happened to be on a floor-model TV while the developer was shopping at a Sharper Image in Manhattan.

"I saw him on TV and I like him," the developer, Sharif el-Gamal, said Wednesday.

Patino was a 19-year-old immigrant from Colombia who played on the Queens College soccer team and had gotten on the reality show with a dual-passenger bicycle he developed after he and his older brother tried to ride the same one.

He was a decidedly appealing contestant, embracing the spirit of invention and entrepreneurship that made his adopted country great. He appeared crushed when he was voted off in the finals, but a special guest came on the air to urge him on.

"Hey, Francisco, I'm Lance Armstrong. ... I want to wish you luck. ... Live strong!"

Gamal hired Patino and presented him with a map of the Financial District. The teen's orders were to scout out properties that might be suitable for an Islamic community center.

"I told him to go out and find available buildings for the project, and he did," Gamal said. "He's a phenomenal kid. ... He's a good one."

Patino compiled a list that came to include the old Burlington Coat Factory on Park Place. The owner said that by happy chance, it was being shown the following day.

Gamal went to see it and was not at all put off by its proximity to Ground Zero.

"We were looking at buildings all over the area. I liked a lot of them, but this was the one we ended up on," the developer recalled yesterday. "It was just meant to be."

Now 23, Patino declined to comment yesterday, not wishing to speak until he got permission from his boss at Chase Manhattan Bank.

Patino surely was aware of the building's location in relation to Ground Zero. And he surely knew about the war on terror, as the brother who had helped inspire the bicycle, Sergio Cadavid, had gone on to join the Army, serving two tours in Iraq.

Even so, Patino was barely a man in 2006 and had only come to this country when he was 12. No young newcomer could be expected to understand the sensitivities beneath the contradictions.

We solemnly called it hallowed ground and spoke of the importance of remembering the murdered innocents, yet five years after the attack we had yet to build a memorial.

Human remains were still being recovered in 2006 because there had been such a hurry to get traffic on West St. moving again that an area under a service road had not been properly searched.

The Deutsche Bank building on the other side of The Pit was being demolished with such criminal indifference to fire safety that two firefighters eventually would be killed there.

And the Burlington site was available in the first place only because businesses were not answering the call to stand up to the terrorists by relocating downtown.

Patino may not have been aware of any of these particulars, but nobody who walked down Park Place in 2006 could feel the area was being treated as sacred ground. He surely could not have imagined the passions and pain that would be roused four years hence.

The nature of real estate in NYC is that everyone lives very close to someone else, and that everyone has an agenda. They don't want construction, they don't want their view blocked, they don't want their investment to depreciate, etc. You could be putting a school for retarded kids there and half the neighborhood would have an issue with it and half would not care or would support it.

We're not talking about half the "neighborhood", but rather the 63% of New Yorkers that don't want it, as opposed to the 27% who do.   ::)

You keep confusing Christianity and religion.  All wars are religious wars they cannot be Christian wars because there's no such thing.  They can be Denominational or Muslim wars.

I think I know where you're coming from, but a devout Muslim could say the same. If you 're gonna say that wars where most all the combatants are 'Christians'  isn't a Christian war, but then call wars with Muslim combatants a Muslim war... that isn't quite honest, IMHO, but I can understand the appeal.

Christians aren't that much diff than regular folk; they are regular folk, just as most Muslims are.

Then there are those who take the words of Jesus seriously, rather than using him as a political guage/loyalty test... but that would be another topic.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Romney and his two jewish partners did not have to sell the building for the project.

...TM7

No we all know that if anyone refused to sell property to muslims for an islamic cultural center it would touch off a firestorm. The ACLU the Anti Defamation league ad nauseum would be on their backs. Protestors would be scraming islamaphobia discrimination yadda yadda yadda. We would probably even see Rev Al Sharpton and Rec Jesse Jackson down there screaming for muslim rights. They would probably even manage to trun it into a black/white thing somehow.

Most NY City denizens don't care about the project as reflected by the building board and the Mayor.

About half of NYCityers don't think muzzies had all that much to do with the WTC attacks anyway, because it was an inside job never investigated properly or in earnest.

HEH. More untruths. Last poll I saw was almost 3-1 against the muslim shrine. Folks in NYC aren't stupid, well, most anyway. They know that a group of muslims screaming allah akhbar flew jets into the buildings, murdering thousands of innocent civilians, and sending themselves to hell. It was in all the AMERICAN papers, radio, and tv stations. I reckon you musta missed it. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I guess the half in New York that don't believe the muslims had anything to do with the WTC attacks, must not be the rank and file hard hat union members who are refusing to build.

Heather a lot of wars and actions have been enacted in the name of Christianity, this in no way makes it a Christian War.
Christianity is the following of Christ no where in his teachings does he say to make war for me.
That does not mean that we should not fight those who would destroy us only that we should not wage war in Christ's name.
Religion and Christianity are two very different entities. Religion can be both good and bad but Christianity by it's very definition can only be good  because it is striving to be Christ like.
