Box of ammo
« on: August 14, 2010, 12:41:00 PM »
Trying to give new meaning to "Grab a box of bullets and head to the range".

Was asking about a wadcutter mold this spring and was told the the Lee is as good as any and better than a lot.  I got a Lee 6 hole non tumble lube.  The alloy is 8lb wheel weight, 8lb plumbers lead and a half pound of tin.  I got a few thousand cast, sized .358 and lubed in the bottom groove only with White Lable BAC.  Then I was sidetracked by summer farm work.  Finally got all the brass I hadn't loaded with 358429's filled with my new wad cutters.  Midrange load of Bullseye shoots quite well out of the S&W 10 and 15.  I haven't tried them anywhere else yet.  Now I get to do the important part....Practice, practice, practice.   ;D

You shoud pick up a .357 Handi Rifle to go with that box.

I have one.

Lloyd, I cannot imagine sizing/lubing enough bullets to load 20 gallons.  I hope he was using something other than an old leaky Lyman.

I had a similiar experience when I was active duty USAF; my neighbor was a security policeman and he and I both had 357's, mine a DW and his a S&W.  He called me up on my day off and told me to get some fatigues on and my pistol and meet him out front(I lived in base housing).  He picked me up in a SP pickup and we went out to the aircraft shooting range.  In the back of the truck were several cases of 39 and 357 issue ball ammo; seems we were having a base inspection in a few weeks and they had more than their alloted ammo stored so his boss told him to dispose of it and return the brass.   We started at 10 AM and shot til %PM with only a lunch break and a few breaks to allow the guns to cool.  The boss also gave him a lg. package of targets.  When done we raked and shoveled the brass into the now empty crates and returned.  I qualified expert in pistol and rifle that year. ;D
