Leupold made in CHINA???
« on: August 14, 2010, 05:11:23 PM »
I just bought a Leupold Mark AR 3x9 on E-Bay and got a real good deal. When I paid I noticed it was to a guy in China. He assured me it is a real Leupold. I went to Leupold's site and the scope is listed as their's. Are they making scopes in China now too? If so, I guess I won't be buying any more new Leupold scopes.

Some of the parts are made in China and assembled in the US.

Did you get a good deal or too good of a deal?
Leupold's website has a counterfeit warning page - link below.

Let us know. Post the offender here if it is in fact a fraud.

Riflescopes made in U.S. except for lenses, which are made in China.  Range finders and green ring binoculars made entirely in China.  Not sure about gold ring binoculars but I think they are same as riflescopes.

FAKES!  The Chinese think nothing  of patent infringements, copyright laws, etc.  Wait'll it goes bad and you contact Leupold to get their Chinese made scope repaired under warranty.

I understand a "True Leopold” will have a serial number engraved on the left side body of the scope.  Someone else told me of buying a counterfeit model and that was the justification Leopold used to deny warranty work when it failed.

I contacted Leupold and they asked me to get a serial number to them as they suspected fraud. When I contacted the seller he would not give me a serial number. When I demanded a serial number or a refund he refunded my money and closed his E-Bay account. Gotta think he was selling knock-offs. I have set the filters on my E-Bay account to not buy ANYTHING that is coming from China. .
