I used AL5 and AL7 with my old lee loaders many years ago.The powder was loaded by volume with a scoop that was provided in the kit.I  will dig out one of those old loaders and see if there is any information in the loading data.

Some of my older loading books still have the alcan powders listed and i still have 5 or 6 lbs. of AL5.  I use it mostly for medium power loads in .44 spl and .45 C and some 20 ga.  It's similar to Unique in burn rate.  AL8 is very slow for Magnum shotshell loads and useful in heavy
mag pistol loads. Mag primers and heavy crimps on pistol loads.
