I'm sitting around, not allowed to do anything while awaiting my Hospital visit this coming week. All I can do is sit in the recliner and watch TV, or read a book, or play on my Lap Top. Last week I had bought a couple of Diaphram Mouth Calls for howling Coyotes, and making rabbit squeals. Michelle came through the living room and threw me the plastic bag that had been left on the shelf in the laundry room, containing the calls. I opened them up and decided to check them out.
Now we have an old Beagle, named Earnie. Earnie's brother and life long companion Bert died last December. Earnie has abandonment issues, and is paranoid about being left alone. So we let him stay in the house with us all the time. He has trouble getting up and walking after lying for any period of time. When he climbs the stairs at night to sleep in the corner of our bedroom he has to stop two or three times before getting all the way to the top. Michelle is to the point she is babying him all the time. She got him this big thick bed and placed it beside my recliner. So the old dog does nothing but sleep on his new bed. Now Earnie is about half deaf, and has trouble seeing. Nothing we seem to do ever bothers him. Earnie sleeps through everything.
Now here I am sitting there bored stiff, in my own little world. Michelle threw me this bag with the calls in it, so I opened them up. I read the packages explaining how to use them, even though I have used them for 30 years. I took one out and looked it over, checking out the double reeds. While I was doing this Michelle and Sky sat down at the dinning room table to discuss going to Anchorage this week. I slipped the call into my mouth, moved it around, and got it wet. I positioned it properly in the roof of my mouth. I slippd my tonge back and forth, and without thinking I gave it a blast of air. It produced one sudden loud howl, not a good thing.
Michelle screamed and turned to face me. Sky was in postiyion to throw something. But poor old Ernie, he jumped up, yowling and running. He was looking over his shoulder and not where he was going. He ran straight into the screen around the fire place. Screen fell on top of him, and he started peeing. Ernie came out from under the screen, and right into the fire place. Now the fire place had not been cleaned and emptied of ashes lately so there was six to eight inches of ashes in the fire place. Ashes went to flying everywhere. When he could not go anywhere he turned around and headed across the living room. Streaming pee and ashes all the way. He ran right by Michelle and Sky. They could not stop him and he streamed all the way out through the hallway, laundry room, and into the garage. Yelping all the way. The old boy was so upset he would not let Michelle or Sky near him for about 10 minutes. Michelle is so upset with me she is threatening to make me sleep in the garage tonight.
Sky is vacuuming the floor and getting up the liquid and ashes, mumbling under his breath. Michelle is sitting in the garage holding Ernie in her lap and talking softly to him and saying not so nice things about me. I may just go out and crawl up into the camper and stay out there tonight. I'd probably get more sleep. Seems I created a hostile environment around here.
