Unfortunately my mother in law died yesterday. I normally would not mention this, but the circumstances might be a warning to someone. She was living alone old, frail and had cancer, diabetes, etc. Sooner or later it was going to happen. As she was a long term diabetic, she had a port in her arm for dialysis. So instead of finding a vein each time, they just reuse the port. Anyway, the port apparently failed in a big way while she was eating her breakfast at home. She bled out. It looked like someone had gutted a deer. I don't know if there was any solution, maybe pressure in the right spot and a Life Alert call? In any case, if you have a port, you might want to look into what to do if this happens.
