When they first started they only popped up when I logged on. Now they pop up every time I change screens. lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

I don't like 'em either... I'm trying to compose a post while listening to U2 Slane Castle concert - I recommend it - and this yahoo in camo comes over the music, telling me how wonderful his Chevy truck it.

I'm sure it's a nice truck, but he and his bow-huntin' girlfriend have already told me about four times...

I have yet to see any lions and tigers and bears on my screen. Nothing has really changed. The dashboard ads are set to show about four or five times once a day when you first come to the site. The video is now set as it will remain while we're under contract on it. That is it shows once every ten minutes of active time on the site. If you set composing or reading longer it won't pop up until you click something.

It's about a one second operation to close and the close button comes up before the video. You can click anything NOT in the video or just refresh or click close and it's gone for ten minutes.

We're still evaluating how much income it is gonna bring in but already it's VERY clear it won't be what was intimated it would pay. We're under contact thru this year but after that it will depend on how much it is averaging per month and it might go away if it's not really paying enough to justify the hassle. We've not yet gotten paid for a full month so just are not sure what the money is gonna be.

I get the "dashboard" ad at the top of the page and a small pop-up at the bottom when I first log on. I have yet to see any videos and I'm kind of feeling left out. What model truck does Mike drive and what's his girlfriend look like?

GB and Brett, I'm just hollrein wolf mostley. Doesn't bother me to see the adds. I have learned where the close button is even camouflaged in the background wallpaper. Don't take me seriously. My family always told me to keep quiet until I moved out into the cave. I make it fine now. eddiegjr

if we each click on the ad a couple times a day, with that improve the revenue stream?

Honestly. No.

BUT it might make the sponsors feel they are getting their money's worth. We are paid per 1000 ad impressions. I believe an impression is counted if the ad begins whether it remains until done or not. At least that's my understanding of how it's counted.

Brett nothing at the top is called a dashboard ad that's an ad at the very bottom of the page and shouldn't show more than a few times each day the first time you arrive at the site.

The ad with our logo on it is called a header ad and that is a month by month contract and pays a flat fee, a rather nice flat fee. If we could be assured of that every month I'd be inclined to dump the video since it seems to be what is most distracting to folks. Of course I'm contractually obligated on both video and dashboard until the end of this year.

I've been told so far they plan to have the header ad in December for sure and most likely next month as well. The current one for Chevy ends at the end of this month.

I wouldn't mind the ads so much, except for the fact, and, I know they did this one purpose. They hid the close icon where it's hard to see it. It's somewhere in the background most of the time, in a dark area. When it's on the regular background, which on my 'puter is a light green, it's easy to see and click on it. But, if it helps pay for the sight, I'll dodge around it. Think of it as tracking a blood trail as evening is approaching.

No, I was talking about my laptop being old, low powered and in need of replacement. I sent you a reply to my PM before I came to this thread. There is nothing to it.

But I will go MAC next time. I am sick or all of the attacks, through the holes left in Microsoft products (on purpose) by advertisers and any other hacker out there. It allows any programmer to develope software that Microsoft doesn't have to pay for, Microsoft just patches around what they need to. They are marketing/sales driven, the way Bill Gates got started. He developed nothing, he just saw a way to sell a product and got there first with continued aquisitions (sp) "to get". Planned oblolesence go's with this (driving sales).

MAC thinks product reliability. That is why Graphic design schools and Systems developement/management schools require MAC equipment in most cases.

Like I said, I confuse myself quite often.

"Wow" clicked the x, and the ad went away. Then when I clicked on a thread, I was directed to a GM website instead.................This is using Firefox with my windows XP. When I use Ubuntu Linux, I don't get any banners or pop ups.

depending upon browser.... might need to bump size down a little. Do a CTRL- a couple times.

Okay, I see the thingy at the top (header ad) all the time and the thingy at the bottom (dashboard ad) when I first log on and that's it. I must have a good pop-up blocker because I rarely get any pop-ups on any of the sites I frequent.

My pop-up blocker seems to be fighting with them. About half the time I only get an X or a partial pop-up and it doesn't run all the way through sometimes before it disappears on it's own.

I have firefox and i still get the pop ups. Must be something i am doing wrong. I have to many other things to worry about in life than the pop ups. If they help pay the bills here that is great.

I understand the attempt to mitigate somes costs so I don't object to the ads. My only problem is at 2 or 3 in the AM when All around me is dark and quiet, suddenly I hear a voice and see unexpected movement at the edge of my screen. Now there's a split second of angst. Hope I don't have to replace a monitor cause at 2 feet away I won't miss.
