I have a .32 S&W Long reamer made by JGS which can be used to chamber a T/C Contender pistol or single-shot rifle barrel.
Right now it is out at Taylor Machine being used to make an American style rook rifle, for quiet shooting of small game and varmints without disturbing the neighbors.
The gun is being made on a pre-war H&R .410 single-shot shotgun action, with 26" long .30 cal. 16" twist rifle barrel, turned to light, "buggy whip" contour. We are shooting for a total gun weight of about 5 pounds with iron sights, though the rifle will also have Parker-Hale scope blocks on it and rings to enable my throwing a 2.5X Weaver scope on there.
Based on my experience shooting .38 Special wadcutters in my 24" Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited this should be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry quiet so as not to scare the bunny wabbits, alot more effective than a .22 and having handloaded potential to approximate the .32-20.
With the high cost of quality .22 LR hunting ammunition these days, a reloadable small-bore, small game rifle which is efficient and accurate to 100 yards with cast bullets makes alot of sense. The companion piece for those who are interested is a Smith & Wesson Model 31, Regulation Police 4" barrel J-frame revolver in .32 S&W Long. My standard handload is in Remington cases with WSP primers, 2.6 grs. of Alliant Bullseye and the Saeco #325 90-gr. Keith style SWC with big flat nose. This gives about 850 f.p.s. in a 5" revolver and I expect a nice, quiet, subsonic 1050 or so in a rifle.
