This is how everything looked straight out of the box. I'm very pleased! Especially after I came from Cabela's this morning and saw the chewed up tomato stake they had on the rack for $149.00. These rifles are beautiful! Both are Tula manufactured Hex Receiver guns. One is a 1931 date, the other is a 1936. Both actions work very slick! If you're looking for a nice Mosin for the price, Classic Arms is the way to go. As you can see, even the bayonets and accessories are in mint condition.  Bill T.

The bores are very bright. I haven't measured them yet. The silver bottles are solvent / oil bottles. Each rifle came with one as well as a bayonet, sling, ammo pouch, and a tool kit with tools that I have no idea what they are for.  Bill T.

DROOL!!! I like 'em! Sure do like them "hex" receivers, and Tula's to boot!  A good explanation of tools can be found at 7.62x54r.net. The tools should consist of, a cup looking piece w/ a hole in the center-this will be the muzzle protector. A longer cylinder with holes thru center line and on one end-this goes on the "fat" end of the cleaning rod so the "punch" looking piece can go thru the hole on the end, this will allow the rod to turn and follow the rifling. A jag to hold the patching, the soviets were users of flax/tow/hemp fibers for patches. also a "screwdriver" with a rounded end- there are also  notches on the side that are used for a firing pin protrusion guage. The oil bottles generally contained oil on one side and a alkaline solvent(for corrosive ammo) on the other. I generally use a "single" oil bottle and fill it with hoppe's #9. It is formulated for corrosive ammo. It is all I use and have never had any problems whatsoever. The important thing is, is that you enjoy them!! LOL! Have fun! Patrick

Both rifles with all of the accessories you see pictured cost $268.08 delivered to my front door UPS. All numbers on everything match on both rifles. They are immaculate.   Bill T.

Interesting cleaning kit pouches.  They appear to be some sort of feux leather or vinyl?  All the kits I have are some sort of cloth.  I have one with the red lettering like that.  I wasn't sure why it came in like that.  Ordered it from SOG awhile back.

The letters are "highlighted" with red or white for photos, so collecters can see the markings better. At one time somebody was probably interested in that rifle so they highlighted it for photo's. You can use crayon,or a product called China White. I don't know what the red stuff is called.  I believe the faux leather pouches for the cleaning kits are post war, with the cloth pouches as war time.

I was at the Syracuse, NY gun show this weekend and there were a ton for $95 to $99 . They were OK , but definitely not as nice as those and w/o the accessories.

I hear this all the time, but never a valid reason for it. What are you going to do with serial #'s? I have never heard of a single case where this has initiated a problem. I put it into the same category as shooting a home intruder with handloads. All the talk about how prosecuting attorneys will use it to brand you like some kind of vicious animal have never panned out in a court case anywhere at anytime. Most of this is simply Internet, pick it up and run nonsense that carries zero substance with it.    Bill T.

  Ive never heard of a legitimate reason for not showing your ser. # either.  my only guess would be that if it was bought ftf by the new owner and it might have been a stolen gun.  So if you bought your gun from a shady character you might want to hide your serial #.  no one ever hides them at a gun show do they?

I've heard of a few unscrupulous individuals filing insurance claims on guns they don't own.  That's the only reason I can forsee.  It could end up on a stolen firearm list though...

It would never go anywhere except right back to the liar who falsely claimed anything with it. If you bought the gun and filled out the 4473, or purchased it with a C&R License, the numbers go right to you. Even if you bought it used. No different with an automobile VIN number, and they are on display on every car. All anyone has to do is look through the windshield to see them. The numbers are totally useless to do anything fraudulent with. You'll cook your own goose if you tried. The system is set up that way. People tend to be overly secretive with serial numbers on anything. It really serves no purpose. There are a lot more important things to worry about in life.  Bill T.

A have a C&R License. The Mosin Nagant is on the ATF list as a "Curio & Relic", (i.e. an old collectible firearm). These licenses are quite easy to get compared to a Class 1 FFL that you must have to deal in firearms. You can use a C&R License to enhance a personal firearms collection. If you do that with a Class 1 FFL it is frowned upon by the ATF. There are many modern firearms on the list as well. It is worth it to get one. The cost is I believe $30.00 for 3 years.  Bill T.
