Custom build?

Just a thought/question:
Is anyone buying actions anymore and having it barreled and stocked, or is that just too expensive for this day and age?
I'm not sure because new rifles are pretty pricey these days, and building one on your own can be fun.
And there are several good barrel makers out there fairly reasonable.
If you were to do it, where would you find a 700 action?

I think having a custom built on a 700 is a fine way to go  You can get exactly what meets your needs.

I have a few actions if you need one.

I did it a few years back.  Enjoyed the rifle for a few years but they wanted something lighter than the custom rifle I had built.  Mine was a 280AI.

I don't know if Remington sells actions alone.  I would try to find a used one that is beat up cosmetically at a fair price.  A lot of rifles out there with dings and worn blueing, but relatively few rounds thru em.  Harvest the action, and sell the barrel and stock to help defray the cost.  I have a Mark X Mauser rifle in 30-06 with a plastic stock that I plan on doing something with, just not sure what caliber yet.  It will have nice wood for sure..

I built mine from a 700ADL that I bought at Walmart.  You can sell the parts that you don't want and have very little in the action.
