I know I should know this

But "I gots to be sure".  I have a new bag of Remington 308 brass.  Other than cleaning the burrs from the primer hole and chamfering in and outside of the case, it is ready to go.  No resizing needed..... correct???????????

That brass is manufactured on high speed equipment.  Then it is subjected to the stresses of shipping.  I have seen flaired case mouths (came off the line that way I assume since they were all that way) and bent mouths and dented shoulders.  I always resize new brass.

I ALWAYS inspect NEW brass. I've had it come with NO flash hole or an off center one, dented case mouths and other problems.

" No resizing needed..... correct?"

Correct as stated, and your preliminary work is quite sufficent to find any defective cases.

It MAY be helpful on first use to "partial" size the already undersized new cases to uniform the necks but it's not "necessary."

I do it.  It's easy, cheap, I have the tools and it insures I've done all that can be done before use.

I always re-size, trim to same length, deburr the inside the flash hole burrs and ream primer pockets to the same depth on new cases. This is how to get the most accurate hand loads. For real serious shooting I even weigh the cases and sort out and use the most consistent weight ones and use the off weight ones for fouling shots etc.

I made the mistake once by loading new brass and expecting it to chamber.  I have a Sig / Sauer Mod. 200 in 9.3 X 62 and loaded some brand new RWS brass and found out I could not close the bolt on the loaded rounds ???   Bummer,  It might not happen alot but "new" brass is made on high speed machinery and has to vary a little + or - from a standard.
Now I set up my sizing die a tiny bit from touching the shell holder and run a few of the new cases thru and see if they will chamber. If they do , I load them at that setting for the first time.
After you fire them the first time you may have to adjust to suit your gun's likes or dislikes.
