Need some help guys

I have a 50 caliber, in-line, Remington 700 ml that my son used to drop several deer using sabots and the bp pills. However I'd like to use powder and the Lee R.E.A.L. conical bullets. The only loading info  have found was 100 to 110 grains, which so far is not very consistent. Since I'm new to bp rifles, I'd appreciate any info someone feels like typing that would help me out. The lube I made from a recipe I found in the forum. It's 3 fluid ozs of melted lard, 400 grs of solid beeswax, and 100 grs of Alox solid bullet lube. The lube gets soft in Florida's heat, but it wasn't too bad for pan lubing.

Too much powder gajaq.  My experience with R.E.A.L.s is that they shoot best at around 70 grains.  That will give you all of the energy you need out to 100 yards with a decent trajectory.  If that doesn't tighten up your groups try a card or felt wad between the powder and the bullet (or even a piece of paper towel rolled up into a ball with a little lube on it).

80 grains of Pyrodex is magic in the 700ML.  Personally I'd stick with a .451 bullet in a black Harvester sabot.

A patched .490 roundball shoots nicely as well.

Thanks, I'm going over the range on Tuesday. I'll lighten that charge and see what happens. It certainly can't be any worse then last Thurday was. I'll let you know how it works. I'm going to have some work done on the trigger as well. It feels like I'm trying to pull a car up a hill presently. LOL

I did lighten the load and while it isn't right just yet, it certainly is closer. I also worked on the trigger pull weight and that helped as well.
