Why a stainless hinge pin?

I use a stainless steel hinge pin in my Contenders. Why?

So I can see them after I drop them.

I may even lightly grind the ends for a jeweled effect.

Gravity, I dont actualy drop them. I launch them when blasting them out.

I was changing barrels the range and mine rolled off the table into the grass - being stainless would have helped.

I see a business opportunity here: an oversize hinge pin about 6 or 8 inches around so it won't hide in the weeds when dropped.  I can have a web page explaining why that is a major problem for TC shooters and life will be good.

Took me a second to catch that one....ROFLMAO....with the addition of the 6" we can extend it too and knurl it for a better grip, this would of course need new wood and the frame to be modified for proper fit....

Better yet, why not fit some of those blinking lights on each end?  If the hinge pin is not within the confines of the frame, the lights will come on and blink madly until returned to the proper union with the frame and barrel.

Maybe it could have a tiny internal "buzzer" that comes on when removed from the frame so that we could listen for it in the event that we are ever changing barrels in pitch black dark and drop it. If we go blind from all the fun we're having from shooting Contenders, we could just listen for the "bzzz-bzzz-bzzz" until we find our misplaced hinge pin!

I drop my hinge pin so I can see it roll out of sight.....and then I swear at my self. ::) and swear......swear more when I can't fin it.

That goes to show you need our patented 6" diameter knurled orange buzzing flashing hinge pin with built in microchip so we can track it from space.

I've never lost a hinge pin but that's not to say I never dropped one.  Evidently though, my trigger guard pivot pin was a bit loose and snuck away when I wasn't looking once.

 A buzzer wont work due to hearing protection, or deafness, or both.

I bought the ORANGE BUZZING FLASHING HINGE PIN........for $75.00.  I did not know that it needed batterys  ::) Know instructions with it.  So I'm out $75.00 and I have to buy a new hinge pin.  I told the wife I lost the flashing hinge pin and I need money for a new hinge pin plus a hug from her.  SHE....told me to put a nut & bolt in it and no hug ???

Or just carry an old bath towel with you and work over it so dropped parts don't bounce or roll. I like a white one ! ;)
