.375 JDJ Varget loads

I'm working on loads for my 20" .375 JDJ barrel. I would like to use either 260gn Nosler Accubond or Hornady 270gn SP using varget powder. Im hoping to get 2200-2300 FPS & 1 1/2" groups @ 100rds.

I use varget in most of my reloading now & would like to find a good load using it. From resurching the net & looking @ the load info sent with my dies, most are using between 50-52grns for both bullets.

If your using Varget in your .375JDJ how it working out? I know the standard is H4895 with the 270gn, but I dont use it in any other loads.

I tried Varget in my 21" barreled 375JDJ Contender carbine with 260gr Accubonds I didn't get the velocities I was looking for max loads = 2230fps

I tried other powders and ended up using IMR4064 = 2280fps - 2300fps average velocities and amazingly accurate.

I have a Leupold 2.5-8X B&C reticle scope on the rifle with these 260gr loads the main cross hair is sighted in 1" high @ 100 yards the first B&C reticle down = 1" high @ 200 yards and the second B&C reticle line down is dead on @ 300 yards and my ballistic calculator shows that the 260gr Accubond is still doing 1800fps so due to its construction is designed to expand at that velocity = 300 yard thumper...

The rifle in my avatar pic is my 375JDJ...    ;D

edit to change powder to the correct powder I am using IMR4064 not H322  Oooops...

I am going to load some 225 Hornady SP I have on hand to break barrel in. Then I'm going to load some 260 Accubonds.

This is going to be my Elk in the Timber gun.

It was weird but I really didn't see an increase in the velocities when loading lighter bullets no matter what powder I tried.

I have them loaded up for my plinking rounds though...   ;D

That is odd? I also have some H-322 on hand, so I'm going to buy a box of 260 Accubonds.

SSK has my Barrel now. He said I should have it back in a couple weeks. I wish T/C still made the 16" & 21" Tapper barrels.

My 375JDJ was a s/s 21" T/C factory tapered barrel chambered in 375 Win that JD Jones/SSK rechambered for me...

Looks like a good load to me. I wonder what the vel. would be with a Super 14 tube in the handgun?

Guys I totally messed up I just realized I am not using H322 in the 375JDJ guess my brain is dying on me in my old age...    :-[

I load several different cartridges 223/6.8spc/45-70 etc using H322 but when I checked my 375JDJ data I realized my mistake I am not using H322 in the 375JDJ my powder of choice is IMR4064...

375JDJ my powder of choice is IMR4064...

I like the BC of the 260 Accubond over the 270 Hornady, but how did you get your cartrige OAL since there is no data out there on the .375JDJ using the 260 Nosler?

My cartridge OAL with the 260gr Accubonds is 3.185" and trust me this is not from memory I just ran down and measured them with my digital caliper...    ;)

Just received my barrel back from SSK. Cutting  3" off the factory 23" barrel sure makes it swing better. As soon as I get some IMR 4064 & 260 Accubonds loaded up, I will post a range report. Thanks Camp Cook for all the Info.

I'm using 48.5 grs of IMR 4064 with the Hornady 270 gr interlock bullet:



That's with a TC 3x fixed power scope, which at 100 yards, is about as good as it gets for me...
